We are thinking of going over to Disney World for Sat. and Sun. nights after the seven day cruise next winter and then flying out Monday morning. Has anyone done this or something similar? Are you glad to go or after being away do you wish you were just flying straight on home?

I have mixed feelings about this. After the packing rush the last night of the cruise our suitcases etc. are pretty unorganized. The thought of moving on to a hotel might be more of a pain then it is worth.

We were at Disney last month but I thought it might be nice to extend the vacation a few days and not feel that post cruise let down quite so fast!

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

In my humble opinion... you can never have enough Disney!!! Go to WDW for a couple nights, relax, repack your suitcases and soak up that last bit of magic before heading home.... :flower: You'll be in post-cruise depression and need that magic to keep you going.....;)

We did just that a few weeks ago. We got off of the ship and headed over to the Wilderness Lodge for a couple of nights. We did some park hopping, lounged by the pool, even took out a pontoon to cruise the lagoon and bay. It was a great way to recoup our thoughts and ease back into society again after the most relaxing vacation we had ever had. Do it and you will not be sorry! Have a great time!

I'm hoping to do the same! It helps with the "awww, it's over" letdown when you're packing up to leave. It's almost like starting all over again! It's the cherry on top~!!!

By all means, come and visit us after your Disney cruise.

I know how it is packing your bags that last night of the cruise. No fun. Why not pack and take along on the cruise a smaller suitcase just for the hotel afterwards. The last night of the cruise transfer your cosmetics and toiletries, etc. to it and you're all set.

Have a wonderful time. :flower:

For our past two cruises we have stayed at WDW for three days before the cruise. This year due to trying to miss as few days of school as possible it works better for us to go after the cruise. I am a little aprehensive about Saturday & the kids since we will be going during the holidays when MK is open until midnight & we do want to see the night parade & fireworks. We will have to play it by ear & hope for the best. We are saving the new park (MGM) for Sunday so everyone will be fresh & ready for a new adventure. :)

Oh, just want to add that I recommend packing a seperate bag for the WDW stay. We did before & will leave a bag in the car so that I don't have to sort thru all that dirty laundry. :(

We've done that. It makes it just a bit less painful to get off the boat....

very good idea about the extra bag!!

We are in the same boat as you - I think we are going to do it though.
We plan on going straight to MGM or AK during the day, take a mid afternoon break, go back to the hotel, then off to MK since it usually closes late on Saturdays. The next day (Sunday) we are going to sleep in, sit by the pool and relax. We are then heading to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party on Sun night since it is a separate ticket. We will leave early afternoon Monday. I am REALLY excited!!

it is probably better to go to the parks BEFORE the cruise. this way, you really get to relax once you're on the ship (no more lining up for rides, etc). we did this in 2003 spending 4 days at WDW and then going on the 4-day Wonder. so, right after the cruise, we went straight to the airport and then back home. :wave2:

We are going on our first Disney cruise in April. We will be staying at the Polynesian saturday night, cruising Sun, Mon, Tues & Wed night and then staying at the Boardwalk until Sunday morning. I just couldn't be down there without going to the parks. As it is now I think I will be disappointed with this vacation due to the lack of park time. I am still trying to sneak in another trip... :)

On our first cruise, we did 5 nights in Disney after a 7-night Eastern.

Cruise #2 & #3 we did 2 nights in Disney prior to a 4-night cruise.

Cruise #4 we did 1 night in Disney after a 4-night cruise.

Good point to WDW prior to cruise:
You can do a lot of running around in the parks and then total relaxation onboard the ship.

Good points to WDW after the cruise:
The magic doesn't have to end after your cruise. We were beyond thrilled that after disembarkation we didn't have to go home. We had some time in the World to enjoy.

I think if I had a preference of one over the other, I'd go for WDW after the cruise. I used to feel differently about that -- until our last cruise. Now I'd prefer the park after cruise. Personally, we'd have a really tough time going all the way to Florida and not visiting Disney World!
