i'll post this on the cruise forum as well, but i trust people's opinions on this board more...
so...

i'm thinking of booking on the 2nd podcast cruise (see the podcast board for details)..

i don't know yet whether my favorite stateroom is available for that cruise (midship cat 3), but i was thinking about switching to one of the aft, handicapped accessible cat 3 staterooms...

has anybody been in one?

if so, i have two questions for you:

1. how are aft staterooms in terms of up and down movement of the ship....do you feel the movement a lot? i have motion sickness issues, but the midship location wasn't a problem for me...i was wondering how the aft would be

2. did you like the aft HA cat 3 stateroom? i know the layout is different. But the verandah is so huge, i thought that maybe it would be worth it if i have to give up on some of the internal cabin room...

any opinions?

Hi,
We have sailed in one of the aft Cat 3s twice on the Magic and will be doing so again in September. 8602 is our absolute favourite stateroom - in fact, we've been lucky enough to stay in the Roy O Disney and we still prefer 8602!

We haven't had any motion issues (unlike when we stayed in the Roy) - it's very smooth and I guess the only slight issue could be the noise/vibration of the stabilisers when docking tho' TBH I've hardly noticed it. Of course, that could be due to the smoothness of the sailings, I don't know...

The veranda is fantastic and we really appreciate it - especially love the fact you can see the Pirate Night fireworks from there. I know some don't like the fact that it's overlooked by Topsiders/Beach Blanket Buffet but it really didn't bother us as we loved how convenient it was to pop up and bring back breakfast or lunch to eat on the veranda...

I'm not sure how the actual m2 size differs from a mid-ship Cat 3 but 8602 feels spacious. I guess the only issue might be that it has a queen size bed in the bedroom and a double sofa bed in the sitting room so sleeps 4 at best. It was perfect for us when it's just the two of us and also worked well when we did the Mexican Riviera cruise with just our DS15 last summer - I'm not sure how a larger family would fare...

Anyway, I hope that helps and here are links to two of my trip reports that feature photos of 8602...

August 2008...

thanks for your response!!

we've also stayed in a cat 1 - in the walt disney suite...
it was nice, but the verandah is actually no bigger than the cat 3 midship...
and we really love sitting out on the verandah....i'd be happy just sitting out there most of the cruise...
and that aft verandah looks amazingly big..

i'm going to look at your pictures now...

love your 2008 trip report ....sounds like you all had a terrific time!!
and that verandah - incredible!!!

Hope they helped. We've not been able to book 8602 for our 2010 Med cruise so have gone for 8100 (tho' we're waitlisted for either 8602/8102) instead of 8548 which we were originally offered. I really wouldn't hesitate to book an aft stateroom... :thumbsup2
