ok... i have a story about this. about a REAL spider. not these sissy little spiders that heidi screams about and runs away. some of them, yes it's ok to be scared of them... and some (even fewer) it's ok to scream at. but i'm guessing the one heidi saw was not scream or scare worthy. not until you've had this experience...

so, this past april my dad was away for business. and hayley and heidi are at school. so it's just me and my mom. hanging out, having a girls night. we ordered wedding date off of the renter thing on our satellite and we were sitting in the basement with a quart of baskin robbins and spoons just getting out of the bucket. about 15min into the movie i see this thing scurry out from under a basket and stand in the middle of the room. it was HUGE. literally. probably a good 5 inches around. and i just look at it. i'm like uh there's a spider. and my mom was like holy crap. so we decide we're going to try and kill it. ice cream is gone so i go to rince out the container to trap it. i come back my mom is getting ready to throw my high school graduation video at it (which we just managed to acquire... colin powell was our speaker :teeth: ) and i was like NO YOU CAN'T USE THAT! so i'm standing on the coffee table trying to catch it with the ice cream bucket. but it moves so fast and every time it moves we jump and scream. so then we decide screw the ice cream thing just throw videos at it. we threw about 3 and kept missing cause it would move at the last second (if you could have seen me hovering over the spider... man!) so then it crawls on a dance dance revolution dance pad. and we think, ok, maybe we can get this out the backdoor. but we can't see where it is on the pad. so i move it and it comes running up the pad. i scream and drop it. now it would have been easy if my dad had been home, he could have just done it. we're like, what do we do. so i look at the time. it's about 11pm on a friday. and i think to myself, mr bowles just told me the other week that they eat really late on fridays and saturdays. i bet he's still up! (mr bowles, our neighbor across the street is also my boss...) so we go upstairs to find that my dog has thrown up EVERYWHERE. and it's disgusting. (we figured out later that she ate a whole bag of candy corn and that's what it was and why it was so gross). so my mom is trying to clean that up, while i run across the street to get my boss. now i think at first he was like what is wrong with these people. until he saw the spider himself and was lik oooooh you've got a good one. he tried catching it. it didn't work. so he eventually got it with the vacuum. although for the rest of the weekend i was scared to go by the vacuum because i thought it was going to crawl out and come get me. the scary thing is... if there's one, that means there's at least one more.... i have yet to see another one. but when i go near the basket it came from, i get chills...

Gah. I would have died.

Same here - our master bathroom has a door that leads out to the porch, and the little devils squish themselves down and sneak into my shower. Nothing like being greeted at 5:30 when you're all groggy by a GIANT HONKING SPIDER.

Actually, all of the insects love our shower. I've fished out several spiders, a lizard, a beetle and a silverfish all at that ungodly hour. I started calling that bathroom Wild Kingdom.
Silverfish love our bathroom too. :sad2:

Well, I did some web searches, and it appears that the wolf spider is the one that carries the babies on the back for a few days after hatching. I've got to tell you, if you're at all arachnophobic, DON'T do a web search. There were pictures.

Dawn

And definately DON'T look up "camel spider" - a friend on tour in Iraq told me all about them and I was afraid to leave the house for days. :scared1: Thank goodness they don't live over here.

Back from the mall. DD managed to spend $80 that quick. She is learning money does not grow on trees. She got some cute pirate things. Earrings, rings, leggings and a hairband. She also got a cute pirate T-shirt and a new purse. She is ready! :thumbsup2

Ya, at least when mine finish spending their money they look at me for more.

I feel like my dad told me about those...but I think my brain chose not to remember what they are/what they do. :rotfl:

DH and I are going out for a run, I will finish catching up in about an hour! :thumbsup2

My TA said she is getting our cruise docs on WED and she is going to 2 day them to us so we should get them on Friday! We are doing Land and Cruise so that may be the hold up. Plus they have to come all the way to California. So west coasters that did not get them they are coming. :cool1: :thumbsup2

Poor Eeyore looks like he is going to melt in your picture.

Do you guys pack a lunch for your kids or let them buy? My DD always used to buy but last year started complaining so now we are packing.

Thanks! :goodvibes

Hope yours was as good as ours! We're still on 2 miles, but I almost have DH convinced to try and up it to 3 on Wednesday. We'll see..... :confused3

We're all showered and cozy on the couch with our two loves - DH and his zombie game, and me and my DIS. I want my documents, and a Mickey waffle, and then life would be PERFECT.

And maybe a million dollars or world peace or something like that too.

:grouphug: THANKS FOR THE ENCOURAGING QUOTES!! :grouphug:
So far I am still hunting. There are so many to see and I have to try to work interviews in between seeing my homecare clients. But, we will find it.
thanks--Jan:earsgirl:

We'll be packing lunches this year. The cafeteria now caters from outside companies like fazoli's or some thing like that. There's no way we can afford to let her *eat out* every day. She'll be packing her lunch for sure. On occassion, I'll let her splurge maybe once a month or two. Sparingly for sure.

Do you know what do they do to the boys? :confused3
They do that same styling like the do at the Main Street Barbershop without the cut. It's the colored gel, spiked hair and the Mickey head on the back of their head. I'm sure someone had pics posted awhile ago.

I try to encourage buying any time I can. Both my boys buy every day so they're easy. DD buys some days and brings when they're serving something she doesn't like. I have found that my kids have tried a lot of different foods by buying that they wouldn't otherwise have tried. I was thrilled when my boys discovered they liked salad because of the French dressing. Who knew?! :rotfl:

just finished my run. boy i felt good! now it's time to play a little catch up...
