While you are all enjoying yourselves on the ship I will be waiting for the stupid bus unless I can talk my DH into renting a car. Wish me luck.

I will be on the DCL bus too but at AKL until 12:30pm...lot of folks will be eating by then.

See ya later.

Lets see if we can come up with a convincing argument for Lori to get a rental car.
It is more convenient-you can come and go when YOU want too!!
Dont have to wait for the BUS or in line!
It may even be cheaper in the long run to rent a car!

Anyone else?

hmmm.... let's see.....

well you don't have to tip a driver if you get your own car

More quality family alone time before you get on the ship with a few thousand of your new best friends....

Ooooh ooh I know, if it is close to the time of the shuttle launch, or because of hurricane season, if something bad were to happen then you would have more flexibility in terms of when you get to leave (like leaving yourself more time to get to the port, or going an alternate route then just being at the mercy of the bus driver) I think both things could possibly happen during our time (if the shuttle launch gets postponed etc) then this might actually be a good argument.

You have more of the control when you drive your own car, so more options as to your schedule and the route you take, any stops you make on the way to the port like last minute stops at the WalMart etc for things you forgot.

I on the other hand wouldn't want the aggrevation and would prefer to have someone else have to deal with the head ache of traffic and getting lost etc. but you know some people....

I haven't been on the buses before, but would you have better access to your luggage in a car than on a bus? Not sure how the luggage thing would work so maybe this one wouldn't fly.

I guess there would be the possiblity on a big old crowded bus that your family would be split up and not be able to sit together and that would be nervewrecking trying to keep track of everyone and everything (i am guessing this would never happen on a disney bus because people would probably move around so families could stick together but you never know...)

I guess there is the thought that if you rented a car then you would get to the port earlier and could be one of the first groups to get on the ship, so then you were on the boat sooner, so you would get more time on the ship for the money spent. When you only have four days on a boat, losing a whole half of a day waiting in lines at the port makes a difference to your overall cruise cost per hour.

I don't know if that made any sense, but to me losing a half a day of a 4 day cruise is significant when looked at from a financial stand point.

Hope you guys are able to come to some sort of an agreement so you're both happy.

Good Luck! :moped:

I know I'm not suzanne, but I think it depends on how many braids you want done, and whether you want just the head band (which I'm going to go with if I do it), or the full braids. I think it is something like 10 bucks a braid. Most people get about 8-10 braids.... hmmm that seems high.

I found a good thread on hair braiding, i'm going to go look it up and see if I can post a link. BRB

Cruise lines have begun altering itineraries as a result of the storm, including:

Carnival
Elation, on a seven-day cruise that departed Miami Sunday, is the most affected. The ship called at Grand Turk yesterday in lieu of a day at sea (the ship was originally scheduled to visit Grand Turk on Friday). Elation is at sea today instead of St. Thomas, Grand Cayman tomorrow instead of San Juan, and Freeport on Friday.

Carnival Triumph, on a seven-day cruise that departed Miami Saturday, is at sea today instead of St. Maarten, and will visit Grand Turk tomorrow in lieu of a sea day.

Carnival Valor, on a seven-day cruise that departed Miami Sunday, calls at Grand Turk today instead of St. Thomas, and will spend the day at sea tomorrow, skipping St. Maarten. On Friday, a call at Freeport has been subbed for a day at sea.

Just one tweak for Carnival Legend: Tomorrow's San Juan call has been replaced with a day at sea.

Royal Caribbean
Navigator of the Seas, which sails from Miami, will not call at St. Maarten today; instead, the ship will spend a day at sea, and make its call at Nassau in the Bahamas one day earlier than scheduled.

Explorer of the Seas, also based in Miami, will skip calls in San Juan and Labadee this week; the ship will spend the day at sea today, and make a call at Nassau on Thursday.

Time to go home!! Will catch up tomorrow AM..Have mercy on me! :goodvibes

Thanks for the advice. I am sure DH really thanks you. :rotfl:

Somebody asked which buffet to go to a few pages back......we went to Parrot Cay because I had read somewhere that it was less crowded. Don't know how true that was, but I know we thoroughly enjoyed it. There was a nice, calm-but-excited atmosphere. We were upstairs later and walked through the Beach Blanket Buffet, and it was alright but very "buffet" if you know what I mean. Plus....the scenery at Port Canaveral ain't the greatest!

These guys are lucky. I hope we are too. This is what Disney says:

As of 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2006:
We are currently monitoring Tropical Storm Chris very closely as it moves through the Eastern Caribbean.

The current voyages of the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder will not be impacted by this storm.

At this time, we do not anticipate any changes in the August 3, 2006 sailing of the Disney Wonder or the August 5, 2006 sailing of the Disney Magic.

The safety of our guests and crew is always our top priority. If necessary, our Captains are always prepared to alter the ships' itineraries to navigate away from inclement weather for the safety and well being of our guests.

They have 8 Cat 8 rooms left. They are all located right by me. Can't they just slide me right over? :rotfl:

I finished the letter and took it down to the school. When I got to the school there was a sign that said closed on August 2 will reopen August 3rd :furious:
I can't get anything crossed off my list even if I try. :rotfl:
