Disney Wonder Galveston Halloween Cruise October 26th to November 2nd

After dinner, we watched Planes (in 3D) in the Walt Disney Theater. If you didn't want to see it in 3D, you could go to the Buena Vista Theater to watch it in 2D. After the movie, we went to the Pirates in the Caribbean party.

The Pirates crashed the party

Make sure you check out Mr. Smee, when he dances like MC Hammer! (Can't touch this)

Mickey came in on a zip line, and dropped down to the stage.

Fireworks at sea....just another example of the......(not again!!)

We went to Beach Blanket for the Pirate Buffet. You can see the Turkey Legs.
2q20lrk.jpg

I had some sliced ham, chili....it was good.
2u88gsj.jpg

At the end of the buffets, in between, they were making crepes.

After the buffet, we went to Krazy Karaoke. Some could really sing good, others.......well, they were..."not so good"!:rotfl2:

On our next to the last day, we had breakfast at Triton's. This was sitting at the entrance.
wbsxe8.jpg

After breakfast, I walked along deck 4, and took this picture. Key West is in the distance. If you look closely on the left side, you will see a cruise ship in port.
10oil1v.jpg

At 9:30am, Disney's Innovations was presented in Diversions. It covered the top 10 Disney Innovations at the theme parks. If you enjoy the Disney parks, it was ok. It was either this, or Family Crafts....so this was an easy decision!
156qrmp.jpg

I ate lunch at Beach Blanket. Tex-Mex was on the buffet that day, and it was good.
Mexican soup was pretty good, the beef burrito was very good (bottom right). The chicken leg beside of it, was good too.
ny7nuq.jpg

Grabbed some Lime Mousse, and some type of warm cake with caramel. The Lime dessert was okay, but the warm cake with caramel was outstanding.

Walked around and took some random pictures...

One of my favorite areas on the ship. Deck 3, front of ship.

At 2pm, Paul Dimuzio did a family variety show in Wavebands. He juggled, and he was very talented. But not very entertaining.
2qipmig.jpg

A slice of BBQ Chicken pizza from Pinnochio's (very good)

At 3pm, me and my wife went to the Buena Vista theater to watch Monsters University in 3D.

It wasn't time for Dinner, but I went by and snapped a picture of the Captain's Gala menu (at the entrance of Animator's Palate).

The door to Animator's was open, so I stepped inside and took this picture.

I really like your pictures. The food looks delicious.I will go to wonder next year.I hope they will not move the stairs like disney magic..

This was near the entrance to Parrot Cay.
4ln9km.jpg

Minestrone was good.
xdinar.jpg

Mushroom soup was good also.
2zdxfth.jpg

Every night at dinner I had a sprite with cranberry juice.
so0hfr.jpg

Our head server took my lobster out of the shell, and then the assistant server poured some melted butter over it. I squeezed some fresh lemon juice on it, and it was good.
r2n529.jpg

Wife's Pork Tenderloin tasted good. (I had to sample it) Loved the cheese polenta and mushrooms.
2vccq2x.jpg

The Warm Chocolate Lave Cake was "the bomb"! (sorry, flash was turned off)
fk464l.jpg

Banana Crème Brulee was very good.
2me4zux.jpg

At 7:30, we went to the "Halloween Party on deck".
347e7ia.jpg

5pk289.jpg

We went to Disney Dreams, which is a great show. After that I stopped by the "Halloween Bash" at Studio Sea.
289zrqr.jpg

We went to the lobby atrium, and watched the Adult Costume contest. I thought this couple should have won. They were Bert and Mary Poppins.
2n8acxx.jpg

This is not a Disney Castmember, it's at guest dressed as Belle. I'll bet she had one suitcase for the dress. There were a lot of cool costumes.
2jerafc.jpg

The adult variety show was David Williamson. This guy was funny, and very entertaining. Not to be missed!
14x2xs9.jpg

He asked for 5 volunteers, and he gave them each a dry erase board, and told them to draw anything they wanted to. He then mixed them (boards) up, and then he told them that he would show them a board, and ask them, "is this yours", and he told them to answer, "NO". So he asked each one, "is this your picture", and they said "NO". He then figured out which one drew the picture, and he got all 5 right. He said it was not a magic trick, but he watched for subtle body motions, that let him know if they were lying. It was really interesting, and entertaining. Great show!

David had no idea what he was getting in to, when he asked Mercedes on the stage.

We are cruising out of Galveston on the Wonder on Dec 7th. This is our first cruise. What is your best advise for a first time cruiser?

Love the TR! Thanks!

We are cruising out of Galveston on the Wonder on Dec 7th. This is our first cruise. What is your best advise for a first time cruiser?

Love the TR! Thanks!

Book a Brunch (if you haven't got one yet, don't worry, you will be able to book one as soon as you board the ship, in Wavebands)
Don't miss the Golden Mickey's, or Disney Dreams. I'm not big on it, but I would go to Toy Story. Don't miss the Fireworks show. Don't miss dinner in the evenings at Triton's, Parrot Cay or Animators Palate. Dinner is like a "big event". Carry a couple of pillowcases, and drop them off at Guest Services, to have them signed by the characters. I'll be posting a picture in the next couple of days regarding this. Don't sweat the small stuff, and have fun. A Disney Cruise is the best vacation I've ever been on. As long as you have decent weather, I know you and your family will have a great time!

On the last day of our cruise, we ate at Triton's one last time. I love the flaky croissants. I usually add real butter and orange marmalade to the croissants (I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!). I also got a blueberry Danish, which was delicious.
21mgdh3.jpg

After breakfast, me and my wife went up to Palo (near the entrance to Palo). We took the Art of the Theme Show Tour, with JD, our host.
34ta7na.jpg

We walked to several places on the ship. We stopped by the Cadillac Lounge, and looked around inside. I've only been in this lounge 2 or 3 times, and I'd never noticed the Cadillac grill behind the bar, until JD pointed it out.
33a9n5c.jpg

He also pointed out that this picture of Walt (near the gift shops) has been "photoshopped"! ??????
2nauq1v.jpg

JD also pointed out why there are dolphins in the rug (carpet) in front of this elevator.
qq71ir.jpg

Why is the ceiling so low, and the windows lower on Deck 5???
All of these questions revealed on the tour. Glad we took the tour. It was interesting.
2j0cr5t.jpg

During our Art of the Theme Show Tour, we walked by the Atrium on Deck 5, and there was a carpet (track) set up for Jack-Jack's Incredible Diaper Dash race on Deck 3. JD told us we should check it out, because it was fun to watch. So after our tour, we walked back to the atrium to watch the race.
4qhbv6.jpg

It was funny watching a parent at the starting line, and the other parent at the finish line, trying to get their baby to crawl to the end. This one baby (left corner of track) was crawling toward the finish line, and right near the line, he stopped and sat up. Everyone starting laughing. There were a lot of babies competing. We watched the first "heat", and then we left.
9as193.jpg

We then walked up to the area outside the Cove Café. It was cloudy, and raining, so we just relaxed in the comfy chairs.
auyuzd.jpg

Sitting in those comfy chairs was nice, but it was even better after I grabbed a coke and some of the "Pizza of the day" from Pinnochios. I think it was portabello and pancetta.
2mdowur.jpg

For lunch, I went to Beach Blanket Buffet, and I asked what the "theme" was going to be. When they told me seafood, I thought I would see what Triton's was having. That day Triton's was having one of my favorite sandwiches, a Cuban Sandwich. It wasn't an authentic Cuban, but it was pretty good. It came with chips, and a side of slaw. This Cuban didn't have mustard on it, so I asked for some mustard on the side. (you can see the mustard hiding on the plate behind my sandwich) Got to have mustard for a Cuban sandwich.
98uf89.jpg

I also ordered some Sweet Onion Soup. Really good soup!
1109542.jpg

My wife wasn't that hungry, so she ordered a kid's hamburger and fries.
rvix6x.jpg

At 12:30, the last Disney Vacation Club presentation was being held in Studio Sea, so I took the rest of my Cuban Sandwich, and my soda, and I went up to Studio Sea (which is directly above Triton's).
2jer9fb.jpg

Everyone gets to enter for a chance to win a $200 OBC (OnBoard Credit)
15gs368.jpg

Everyone got this cool portfolio for attending.

It has a DVC pen, and a notepad inside.

What a great trip report, thank you so much for sharing. We head out on the Wonder Dec 7th, and I am super excited.

Just walking around, I took some random pictures.....There was a large ship trailing our ship...
51u2u.jpg

This is directly outside of Wavebands on Route 66.....my grandparents use to have an Airstream.
2na5p8m.jpg

The lunch buffet at Beach Blanket was still open, so I thought I would see what they had. I grabbed some coconut shrimp, and a panna cotta for dessert. Both were good.
2ee9z83.jpg

At 2pm, I went to the Walt Disney Theater, and watched the Magic Dave Show.
1267cle.jpg

I know I've mentioned this before, but this guy is good. Make sure you check him out. Good comedy for the entire family.
14iiioi.jpg

I had never seen anything like this before. It's a ship, and it appears it has an oil rig tower on it.
2zg8281.jpg

Walked by the Goofy Pool, and Andrew and Victoria were performing some live music.
15q4sj7.jpg

This was my first trip through the Gulf of Mexico, and it was cool to see the oil platforms. This is something I've never seen off the East Coast.
2r38n07.jpg

I was on the same cruise, and am completely enjoying your trip report. Totally agree about Bert and Mary Poppins, they were great! Also saw the Mercedes show!!!!

My plans after the Magic Dave show, was to take an afternoon nap, but the clouds cleared, and the sun came out. So me and my wife went back to the pool. We knew we wouldn't be laying in the sun by a pool, until May of next year. We have the Disney Magic Transatlantic to Barcelona scheduled.
ojmjwy.jpg

While we were laying by the pool, Carrie Stone was performing. She had a great voice.
hvdlrn.jpg

I can't remember the name of this appetizer, but it was sliced potatoes, with a creamy cheese on top. It may have been Goat's cheese. (not sure) But I remember that it was a pretty good dish. Sorry about the picture, I was almost done eating this, and then I remembered to take a picture.
xfrk13.jpg

Potato & Leek soup was good.
2wlrmzt.jpg

Wife got the Cranberry Salad
2gt2hrp.jpg

I ordered the Garlic and Rosemary Lamb, and it tasted very good. My wife didn't see anything on the main menu she liked, so she ordered a chicken breast, and a baked potato. Before dessert came out, the chefs (cooks) came out with the Flaming Baked Alaska dessert. Music was being played, and everyone clapped for the great job the chefs did during our cruise.
2wd1yqc.jpg

25krafc.jpg

My wife ordered the Celebration Cake
16jovuv.jpg

I ordered the Baked Alaska
4rc8t0.jpg

I also ordered the Chocolate Decadence (Hey, it was the last night of the cruise!)
2exahqp.jpg

Kristina and Bonieface did a great job with the food all week. Kristina was the best assistant server we've ever had. Very personable for an assistant server. Her husband, Toni, works in Palo. The Palo servers were working at Beach Blanket on debarkation day, and we saw Toni, and spoke to him, and let him know how great Kristina was. The great staff on the Disney Cruise Line, really make the cruise special.

On our last night sailing back into Galveston the entire horizon was almost full of lights of some description. Between the rigs and the tankers out there, the Gulf is one busy place!!

Enjoying your trip report. The cuban sandwich looked very yummy. :goodvibes
