I just want to share some info from our February 21-26 Disney Wonder
We are family of four - dd is 8, ds is 5
We got to the terminal around 10:45am and boarded at around 11:30 ( not too bad huh) PC was very crowded..lots of kids screaming so before they called our number to board the ship, i was pretty much ready to go home (j/K). Rooms are not ready so we went to have some lunch. Food wasnt too bad as I read a lot of bad reviews about the food. It was not as great as before but it was fine. We are not picky eaters. After lunch, took kids to the pool and you will think that the terminal was bad, the mickey pool was 3 times worst. Kids still had a great time of course. The weather was very nice for the sail away party.
Staff
Cruise director was Adam. First time we met him. We are disappointed at first that it wasnt Christiaan but Adam is great too. Christiaan is on the ship but he was not the CD. We dont know who was the Assistant cruise director.
Pikey left that day, his last day on the boat, so we are disappointed on that too. DJ Frankie is there along with Katrina, JD, Jen, John, Teesa, etc. DJ frankie seems not very energetic as our last cruise.
We are very disappointed with our stateroom attendant and dining servers. They are all from India. They were all just ok. They never interact with our kids at all. They keep on calling our kids with wrong names. We asked our room attendant if we can have another shampoo and conditioner and he told us he already put them in our stateroom and he will give us again on our last night. well, yes he put one of each (shampoo, conditioner, soap and lotion)in our bathroom but we are family of four as well (for 4 days) So ok, we dont like his attitide, he wasnt rude but not very friendly at all unlike the other staff that we met in our past cruises. We end up buying some toiletries when we were in Nassau. We usually bring our own but we did not this time. We figured that DCL will give us more if we asked. Well, we asked and the attendant gave us an attitude that he is not giving us more until our last night. Not a big deal. maybe DCL is saving money..who knows.
Restaurant servers - again both from India. They both hardly talk to us. All for nights, we are always waiting for them to serve our drinks. When I requested another appetizer, the server gave me a look (good grief, i like the appetizer ok so what if I asked for anothe one). head server was good though.
Honestly, we dont even remember the names of these servers/room attendant. They are so awful that we dont even care anymore. Our last day, that morning the room attendant have to remind us that we have to leave the room. Our breakfast was at 8:30 and we are all ready by 7:30 but our kids were watching TV. He was reminding us to leave at around 7:30. the atrium was way to crowded to wait till they call us for the 8:30 breakfast. Same thing happened in the dining room. they really rush to leave. Brekfast food was so awful. Cold pancakes and eggs, huh! yes we understand that they have to finished because of the next passengers but we are still expecting them to treat us a little nicer. We are very aware that we have to leave the boat by 9am. It is not our first time cruising with them so we know the rules.
We end up giving them more than recommended tips. i dont know why, but I guess we just feel bad for them as we heard that they are depending on tips. I am sure most people will give them little or probably nothing if they experience what we experienced. We dont get pissed off easily but very disappointed with their service.
Weather
It rained in Nassau- all day. A bit chilly.
Castaway cay - It was a great day on the beach. weather was very nice. It rained that afternoon but pretty much all morning was very nice. Food was good. Family beach was very very crowded.
Sea day - it rained all day
Pirates Party
No bandanas given out. party was ok. It was more fun the last time we cruised.
Kids Club
our kids love every moment they spent there. Some counselors are very good, some are just ok.
Shows
They are fantastic!!!!
We never see any live bands on this cruise or we probably just missed it. Mario and marlo (something like that) show was not too good, my opinion. Cadillac was way too boring for me. I dont know what happened to great entertainers on DCL.
Our vacation was wonderful though we are disappointed in some stuff. the important is the kids had a great time. The vacation is really for them after all.
