does anyone have tips for disney/orlando/perkins/pirate: and a child with a corn allergy? What snacks in the park are corn free and where can I get her pure foods with no nitrates, fillers, gluten, lets just say multiple food allergies...where do the people with multiple food allergies go for a meal or a snack at disney?

 :woohoo: :cutie:

Hi! We have egg, peanut and shellfish allergies with our kids. We told the CM when we made our ADRS and at each restaurant the Chef came out and either make special food for our kids (like egg free waffles, pancakes, special chicken dishes) or walked us through the buffet and said to eat and not eat certain items. They were great and most of them saw we wanted to speak with Chef ahead of time and they would just come.

As far as snacks go, there are all sorts of items including fruit, water etc which can be used with snack credits so you should be able to find something!

Hope that helps!!!

Each park has a dining department. I found the one at MK very helpful, and she has an email address. The emailed me a bunch of information on the snacks and ingredients.

Also make sure the allergy is on your reservations.

Corn is a VERY tough allergy-- my DD3 has it, as well as almost all other foods. There is so much hidden corn in things that you have to be very careful. Fresh fruit can be coated in corn starch to give it that shine, corn is used in juice for the added vitamin c-- citric and absorbic acid, chicken skin is injected to give it the yellow color, iodize salt( most US table salt) has corn. etc. All these things are still called all natural as corn is still natural. I would make sure to have food on hand for your child for every meal. We travel with the few thing my DD3 can eat so we don't have to worry about it. Disney chefs are great about allergies, but corn is so new as an allergy that they may not realized all the derivitives of corn.

On an aside, have you found any sunscreen that is corn-free? We are still searching.

What kinds of things does she eat at home??

You also might want to try posting over on the disabilites board. A lot of people over there deal with food allergies and I know a few have corn allergies.

We are staying at Give Kids the World. At home, currently she is on a raw goat milk diet for gastritis (tummy hurts to eat anything but milk). I checked and it seems that raw goat milk is illegal to buy in Florida unless it is bought for animal consumption. We have four months until our trip to hopefully get her eating again. When she does eat, she can have all meats, beef, chicken, lamb, pork (loves corn free bacon), turkey, a handful of fruits, grape, grapefruit, peach, strawberry, orange, sugar, quinoa and tapioca flours, sweet potato, and spinach. She can have hazelnut, pecan, pistachio, sesame, walnut, brazil nut. She can have goat milk, and cow milk. Agave nectar, maple syrup, cane sugar, and cocoa! Which means chocolate is something she can have!

I was planning on using california baby sunblock, I called and their glycerin is derived from coconut. They have a website but I don't have enough posts to link it...it is www californiababy .com though It costs $17 a bottle but it is so worth it. We are working on a base tan here so maybe we can use less of it when we get there.

My nephew has corn and milk allergies. Last year they went to WDW. The chefs at WDW were fabulous. My SIL contacted each of them individually and they set up meals (including desserts) for my nephew throughout the trip. They even transported a dessert from a MK TS restaurant to an ice cream place so he could have dessert with the family at a later point in the day. The WDW staff was absolutely fabulous and kept my nephew safe and happy throughout the trip.

On another note, if you live in the NY/NJ area, Rocking Horse Ranch has WDW trained chefs who also took the time to keep my nephew safe and happy during our stay there.

I cannot speak highly enough about these professionals' expertise and caring attitude.

I hope you have the same wonderful experience.
