Pretrip notes- DH, DD, and I live in Texas and drove to DW. We left Saturday morning and got to the Yacht Club about 2:00 pm on Sunday. We stopped in Tallahassee about midnight on Saturday and even though I had made the reservations at Ramada in May, they had given our room away and were sold out. So much for guaranteeing with a credit card. Since they had overbooked for that night, they did pay for us to spend the night at a La Quinta.
My husband's family lives in Rapid City, SD. They flew and got there late Saturday night.
TRIP
Sunday, August 19
The in-laws were waiting for us at the YC. They booked YC through SOG overflow rates. Bob is retired Air Force. I was excited about staying at the YC, since I did not think DH would ever want to pay that price. (We were doubtful as to whether or not Bob, Virginia, and Karyn would actually go since they often make plans and then do not follow through. So our back-up plan was to split our stay between WL and AKL. Even though YC is supposed to be a more deluxe hotel, I kind of still had my heart set on WL and AKL.) I thought the YC lobby was beautiful, but I just thought the rooms were okay. In all honesty, I was more impressed with the Dolphin when we stayed there last year. Virginia requested connecting rooms on the first floor and we got her requests. First floor? Also our walk from the lobby to our room was quite a hike.
We got 5-day park hopper passes and got a 1-day Epcot ticket so that we could spend 6 days in the parks. We always just go to Epcot on our first day since we get there in the middle of the day. My husband's family had gotten park hopper plus tickets so they had planned on going to a water park Sunday before we got there which would have worked out well so that they weren't doing something that we wanted to do later. Instead they went to Epcot and went through WS. They wanted me to plan our itinerary since I've been there a few times before. I had planned on lunch either at Sommerfest or Kringla og Cafe. Bob and Virginia started talking about everything they had already eaten so I thought it sounded like they had already eaten lunch and it was about 3:30 when we got to Epcot. So I told Robert that since they had already eaten and we were eating at Rose and Crown at 7:30 that maybe we should just get a snack in Future World since that was where we were headed. We went to Electic Umbrella. Robert, Courtney, and I were in line before them so we got cookies and milk. MIL, FIL, and SIL were behind us and ordered pizza. OKAY!
We went to Spaceship Earth first and DD wanted to sit with Karyn. DD got kind of scared on it . (She was initially scared on dark rides last year and then got used to it.) Karyn was great at pointing things out to Courtney and getting her to enjoy the ride. Next we went to the Living Seas. I just love to watch the manatees eat. I wish I could take one home with me, but I don't think he would fit in our bathtub.
We decided to head on over to World Showcase since I wanted to check in early for our PS at Rose and Crown and request a patio table. The hostess told me I was too early, so we went and looked around in the shops there in England. Here is where we saw our first character- Mary Poppins. DD was excited since we did not see her last year. We were given an outside table which I was thankful for, but the view was not all that great since we were seated underneath an overhang and it blocked the view of the sky somewhat. None of us were that thrilled about the food and the view was not that great so I don't think we will be returning.
We walked back to our hotel after Illuminations and went swimming at Stormalong Bay. DD loved playing in the sand area of the kiddie pool.
Tomorrow- early entry at MK, Crystal Palace and Disney-MGM.

and you are hungry the others aren't......I was wondering about the rose and crown....We all do love SpaceShip Earth and also Electric Umbrella after.....must be the family thing.......thanks again

Not liking Rose & Crown must be a Texas thing...we didn't really think it was all that either when we went a few years ago.

Sounds like you guys are going to have a blast. Its a shame you lost your reservations going down. I'd give the hotel a call and let them know that you didnt have a room waiting. They might make it good for you...who knows. Hope you waved as you passed the Thomasville Road exit. ;) I live about 30 miles from there.
