My best friends are having their wedding at Disney in July. I NEVER go to Disney during the summer months but obviously, I have no choice on this one lol. I will be there July 1-8 with 4 days in the parks. It will just be me and my son who will be turning 1 only 2 days before. What are some ways to help him with the heat? We live in Alaska so I never really have to worry about this. I also have a black stroller and I'm worried about that making things worse. Should I buy an umbrella stroller type one? My only hesitation is that ours leans back so he can nap comfortably and what not. Just looking for tips! :)

Lots of water, lots of breaks, a stroller fan helps a lot also. You are going at one of the 2 busiest weeks of the year, it will be VERY busy and extremely hot. Make sure have have some good baby sunscreen and a hat too:)

I went when my youngest was 8 month old and again when he was 13 months. the trick is to follow your child's schedule and his cues. What we found worked best was to go to the parks early (opening time) and stay until after lunch. We always had lunch at an indoor place mostly sit downs. Then we went back to the resort for nap and/or cool down during the hottest time of day (afternoon). Then we would head back to the parks around 5PM. This worked really well. There are baby care centres in each park. You can feed your baby there and change his diaper on changing tables. These places are quiet and air conditioned and often have a little seating area with cartoons playing. Just go there if you see your kid needs a little time out from the heat or the noise. I brought a sun cover for the stroller for when he fell asleep. My greatest tip is to listen and watch your child. You will know if he is getting cranky or if he is doing fine. As soon as you see that he is getting a little cranky or tired head back to the resort or to the baby care center. Follow his lead and you,ll be fine. Keep up their usual schedule, meaning feed him at his usual times. Try to put him to bed at his usual times, respect his nap time. If you have to skip rides or miss a firework show so be it!
My kids were great the whole trip and it was actually one of the nicest trips we ever took. I have great memories and you'll see your little one's face light up.
The heat is intense but it means more pool time;)

Thank you both!
I am extremely worried about the heat and my son. But I suppose thousands of babies do it every year and we will be fine. I am planning on lathering this little guy in sunscreen! Lol.
Alexsandra- I am loving your blog!! SO many great tips!! Thank you thank you. This helped a lot!

Make use of the childcare centers; they are air conditioned and have places for feeding and changing (nursing area if you are Breast feeding).
