We will be traveling to Disney from 9/24 - 10/1, staying at the Wyndham Palms. Is the weather totally brutal at this time of year? What kind of lines should we expect? We will have 2 two year olds with us. Are they too young for a character dinner? Any thoughts on Chef Mickeys? Any other advice would be really appreciated!!!!!

Hello. I'll be there 10/20 - 10/24 with my 2 and 4 year old. I personally don't think that they're too young for a character dinner. My daughter was there when she was 18 months old (March 05) and while some of the characters scared her, others she absolutly loved. Just remember to schedule nap times during the day - IT IS NECESSARY! Weather shouldn't be too bad during that time of the year. Chef Mickey's is awesome. Haven't been there in years because we're trying to try out new restaurants each time, however, my husband and I had our "wedding attendant dinner" at Chef Mickey's and had a great time. Good luck - Have a great time!

Hi.
Although I have never taken my ds to WDW he has been to DL/CA twice. First time when he was 18 months and second at 2.5 years old (now 3.5 years old). Both times my son was scared of the characters, so a character dining would have been a huge waist of our time.
I do not know what the lines are line at WDW during that time of year, but I do know we had long lines at our Disneyland trip and my son just hated the heat and waiting in line. One night we got lucky during the fireworks and was able to get on many of the smaller rides (peter pan, toads wild ride, small world, etc.) one right after the other and my son just loved that night!
I think the best plan for smaller children and toddlers is spend less time in line and on rides and enjoy the all the other magic Disney had to offer such as parades, meals, fireworks and even just getting an ice cream cone and sitting on a bench and people watching.
Hope someone can offer more advice on the line/weather at WDW that time of year for you. Just remember it is a vacation and ENJOY!!

We are going in Dec and this will be my DD2 3rd trip...her first was at 10 mos and she smiled at the characters and touched them but that was about it...her next trip was at 20 mos and we thought it would be great but she ended up getting pneumonia and we spent more time at Celebration Hospital then in the parks! We did get a few days in the parks at the end of our trip and she loved breakfast with Pooh at CP...We found MK, especially Fantasyland, and MGM to have the most for littles ones...she also loved Playhouse Disney in MGM and we did venture to EPCOT for the characters on Holiday and were able to get about 10 autographs and pics in 15 mins...I would suggest those things for 2 yr olds...Have a wonderful trip!! :)

Welcome! :wave2: Sept. is a great time to go. We always have gone around mid Sept. It can be HOT....but the lines aren't bad and usually there is a much welcomed afternoon thunderstorm to cool things down alittle. You'll love it. Two years is a great age too! They'll love the characters! I would hit the parks early as possible, that way you can head back for naps in the afternoon if they get cranky. My kids have always done well just napping in their stroller so that may work for you too.
