At our last trip to DL in December, I was really pitching the idea of upgrading to an AP to my husband. He enjoys DL too but wasn't keen on the idea of APs. We celebrated two birthdays in the park (my mom's and my daughter's 6th) while we were there, so we went all out on character meals, Blue Bayou, etc. and 5-day hoppers. My husband was convinced we were going to get our fill of DL on that trip to last awhile. Of course, it wasn't enough! The kids and I talk about DL endlessly dreaming of our next trip.
I started planning another trip this summer "on the sly" and then again had the idea of APs come up which would allow us another long weekend trip in the fall and another week in January. I also coordinated some dates for our summer trip with his brother's family who are AP holders. I sprang my idea and plans on DH when he got home from work late Thursday night and I launched into my rambling spiel about "Why I Think Our Family Needs to Be Disneyland Annual Pass Holders." When I came to the end, I took a deep breath and waited. He smiled and said, "Okay!" YAY.
But here's the MAGIC! Even after my victory, I was still little nervous about the cost. I started back to grad school in January AND am dropping to a 4-day work week in the fall, so I've been having to watch expenses more carefully. BUT yesterday morning I set down and checked our bank account to pay our bills. It showed my husband's paycheck had posted AND a second paycheck for $1200. He earned a bonus which covers the cost of annual passes for the family (and a bit to spare!). WHOO-HOO! I ran upstairs to my husband who was still in bed and told him. It had only been a few hours before that we'd had the AP conversation and he didn't believe me at first that money for the passes "magically" appeared in our checking account. After a call to work, he confirmed the bonus.
I absolutely believe all those wishes the kids and I have been making on birthday cakes, toins tossed into fountains, and on dandelions for DL have finally come true!!!!
