Disney Wish will have AR "adventure"

Honestly, the more we are learning, the more I'm wondering if this is just not the ship for me. While I actually LOVE the adult Cove area (whatever they are calling it), at least one bar (the Star Wars monstrosity) is a total no-go for me...and I'm not the biggest P&F fan so the bayou themed one will probably be a pass too. And now that some info from someone who went to a special invitation thing is out, it looks like the Marvel room and stuff will only make sense if you've got a kid who has been "training" in the kids' clubs.

Seriously pondering 86ing the land-sea Poly-Wish trip I have planned for next August and doing an Eastern on the Fantasy instead (knowing it could be modified to a Western or something else because hurricane season).

To me I think its a "downgrade" from Midship Detective likely. I suspect its just AR on a phone app and nothing more.

Would be nice if they simply expanded Midship to be more challenging, possibly linked to your phone, and possibly was multi-day experience where you get clues over dinner and such throughout the cruise.

I disagree. I think this builds on midship and elevates it.

If you watch the video, it is apparent that all the action is not just on your phone screen, but things on the ship itself move, change colors, and come alive when you "interact" with it. There is one shot around the 1min mark where you can see someone holding their phone in front of a wall-mounted screen (like the mid-ship paintings) and they turn the phone and this turns an item on the screen itself. At 1:35 you can see Cinderella's slipper illuminate when your phone interacts with it. They specifically mention props on the ship that look just like decorations but actually do things as part of the game..so yes there is stuff on your phone screen, but there is much more on the ship itself to interact with it.

I for one am looking forward to it.

This is what I got from the video as well!!! Super cool!!

The promo visuals of a phone in every hand just solidify what we knew... gone are the days of leaving technology in the safe!

This doesn't look like something I'm interested in when cruising.

Me either. MDA was fun. This looks way too complicated.

More and more I am thinking the Adult Pool area and one, maybe two MDRs and even it being brand new are not enough to make me love the Wish like the others.

I'm getting that feeling, also. BUT, I plan (at some time) to give the Wish a try. I'm a big supporter of "gotta try it once before I pass judgement on things".

I don't think this is something that I would want to commit a lot of time to on a 3 or 4 night cruise.

I hear where you are coming from….I feel like DCL keeps offering less and less for adults without children. I am very excited for the adult Cove, new adult restaurants, and concierge areas, but the much of the ship seems very kid focused.

Definitely looking forward to being on one of the first Wish sailings, but honestly right now I am more excited for my Virgin Voyages cruise in January. The ship just launched in the UK and is getting rave reviews…maybe check that out?

Virgin seems way too Vegasy for me. I do like Celebrity - especially her Edge class. And I'm checking out RCCL's Anthem of the Seas in February.

Yeah I'm not over the moon about the Wish. That being said, things can change once it comes to life. I'll be interested to see how the experience is, and then I'll decide if I'd want to go or not.

What is DCL going to do for people like me who only have a flip-phone (not smart enough for the "smart" phone) or does DCL only want those tech-savy people aboard? Can't carry this HP desktop computer around with me.
