Disney Wish date choice

This will be our third cruise (hopefully), and we were lucky enough to get a couple holding dates on the Disney wish! Yay! We couldn’t be too picky with dates and rooms all things considering. Hoping our Disney fantasy double dip cruise sticks this November for that to be our second.

Therefore, we’d have a cruise in March and November under our belt. The holds we currently have our August 8-12. Our son would be turning 13 on this trip. Fingers crossed he could experience both the oceaneer club for the last time AND the teen club since he’d be turning 13 while onboard.

The other date is Sept 5-9. Same exact ocean view room, but $1400 less. Although I do understand that has to do with hurricane season and school being in session.

What’s your opinions? Is there one you would choose over the other and why?

Better yet. Should I move my date to October when they come out? I’d love one of the Halloween cruises.

Is your son in school? Would you have to pull him out? I won't pull my kids, which is why I have to pay more to go in the summer. If I didn't have to worry about the school schedule, I would 100% travel when cheaper.

I'll also add (and I wonder what others have to think about this) - will they do Halloween cruises on the Wish? They may not.

We've done two cruises around Labor Day. One was fabulous and you wouldn't have known it was rainy season or hurricane season (this was our first thank goodness, otherwise I'd never have gotten my wife back on the ship). One was fine but not smooth. It was 2005 and we were sandwiched right between I believe Ophelia and Rita if I have the names right. Our cruise out from Canaveral was in the rain and wind with high swells. Walking to dinner looked like a drunk person failing a sobriety test as we weaved our way down the hall. It got better once we were out to sea and away from land, I don't even remember the overnight being that bad.

It's hit or miss, that's why it's cheaper (and low travel season, school, yada yada). I'd weight the cost against the benefits of the other things and do what's most important to you.
I don't know if I could get my wife on a Labor Day time cruise again even if it mean saving $2,000.

Oh. And I also wondered if I’d really be saving more in the long run, simply because I assume travel prices are much higher at that time? (Due to holiday)

I hope they don’t. We booked a September sailing. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to go on a Halloween Cruise, but I want to see the Disney Wish the way it was designed without Halloween decor distracting from it.

I could understand that. Maybe they won’t for the first year’s sailing! I just assumed with them taking over the Dream itinerary that it was likely something they would do.
