Hypothetically, I know the stateroom host *should* be able to open up the partitions on the verandahs but we have never sailed aft and will be sailing with good friends next year on the Wish. Anybody sail in rooms 10170 and 10668 and *know* that they do open up? I know there are some rooms that don't and so trying to dig to confirm! Our kiddos are besties so we would love to open it so they can hang out and go back and forth while we are in our rooms. TIA <3

Hi! We love the aft cabins! Our 2 cabins were connected and we asked the room attendant to unlock the verandah door between us. Be aware that it’s not wide open, it’s a rather thin door but it’s still nice.
It’s so beautiful aft, watching the wake and the decks are lovely! You’ll love it!01E3AE26-68CB-480F-B239-307203029379.jpegD9D62ABD-7D83-454D-8DD8-D5CB6A3A4E7D.jpegB224F8A5-DD13-4796-9896-01E6ED863C27.jpeg

I’m sorry, I just realized you were asking about the Wish aft cabins, we were on the Fantasy. I hope your connecting cabins‘ verandahs can be opened so that your family and friends can enjoy them!

We just got off the Wish this morning (B2B for 7 nights) and we’re in an aft stateroom on the 9th floor (9182). Our veranda did have doors similar to the photos above to the other verandas. We were not traveling with others so we didn’t open them, but they were there.

We have rooms 9184 and 9182 held. Rooms are adjoining but really want to be able to open the verandah partition. I understand your 9182 doors were similar, and I’ve seen YouTube videos of the exact rooms, but can you confirm that the doors did seem able to be opened? I can’t see handles or hinges or hardware in any photos or videos from these rooms (but I do see that stuff in videos and photos of aft rooms on deck 10). Thank you!

We have these same 2 rooms scheduled for Labor Day weekend. When are you sailing?

Have the rooms held for April 15. Think we need to commit by Monday. Trying to have proof to ensure that the verandas doors do indeed open between these rooms.

Not sure if you still have these rooms booked or not, but we sailed over Labor Day and they opened up the balcony for us as soon as we let the state room attendant know. Ivan was his name. If he is there when you sail he is FANTASTIC! The view from the picture is at the railing facing 9184. As you can see the door to 9182 is to the left of the verandah sliding door.

@ditchdiggert200 Thank you! Yes, we booked 9184 for April 2024. Friends in 9182. So, in the photo you shared, the opening between the two balconies is the single panel to the left of the glass sliders, right? Is that the only panel that opens? Happy with anything…just curious!

Also, did you enjoy being aft versus on the side of the ship? Didn’t feel too cavernous from inside the room looking out to the verandah? Thanks so much. Hope you had a fantastic cruise.

You're very welcome! Correct. The only opening in the balcony divider wall is the first panel, just to the left of the slider in 9184. We (family of 4) were next to my wife's parents. The kids loved being next to grandma and grandpa and being able to go between the 2 ginormous balconies.

This is our 2nd aft sailing. We enjoy aft a lot and have only sailed on the side of the ship 2 other times; once on our 1st DCL sailing on Dream and once on another cruise line, long before I ever thought about sailing DCL.

It didn't feel to cavernous from inside looking out at all. I guess, because a lot of times when we were looking out, we ended up out there in the point of the balcony continuing to look. We love the location, especially when backing into port. Nassau was 50/50 chance of backing in and we got lucky on this trip. Castaway Cay is where it's at with an aft room!!! Watching the island in the morning light as you're backing into port, while drinking coffee or eating room service danishes. UGH! I'm ready to be back. HAHA!!

Honestly, the only negative that I have for this room location is the fact the aft elevators on the Wish are further towards mid-ship here than on the Dream, so the walk was longer. Does it outweigh the fact of where it is compared to the views it provides? NO! I would do it again for sure!
