Hi guys :) Your pictures are all wonderful, you guys are so lucky. My fiancé proposed in Cinderella Castle last March, and we would love to get married at DW. I was looking at the website, and I know that you can have your ceremony at the resorts, but I'm wondering where else you can get married and how much it costs. I know that Cinderella Castle is a minimum of 50k, isn’t it? I’m not sure how to even find out that stuff. We’d love to get married on Pirates of the Caribbean, but I’m not sure how well that would go over with our parents :D. Thank you for the help, and I swear I’ve been searching the website myself for the info because I know it has had to come up loads of times.

Here is our story :p

Last January, John and I decided to spend our spring break together in Florida so that I could meet his dad. Fortunately for us, his dad lives near Orlando so we got a seven-day pass to Disney World. We had been dating for about a year at this point, and John had been hinting about popping the question. I was getting pretty excited about it, I think too excited because a month or so before the trip John had told me that he wouldn’t be able to propose until at least midsummer. He is a very silly boy because I would have said yes without ever getting a ring (even though it is quite pretty now that I have it ^_^). Anyway, it was snowing in Chicago on the day I left. When I walked out of the Orlando airport, I felt like I was entering a completely different world. I had never seen real palm trees before and the weather was . . . hot. I loved it. It was the perfect beginning to a truly magical week.
John had surprised me months earlier with a reservation for dinner at Cinderella Castle. I was so excited that I couldn't stop talking about it, dreaming about it, and I had picked out the perfect outfit to wear. I had insisted that we dress up. You just don’t go to the castle in shorts, right? The first day that we were in Disney we went to Epcot center. I was like a little kid bouncing around, especially when I saw the Castle from the monorail. Did I mention that I'd never been to Disney before?
The next day, we went to the Magic Kingdom. It was amazing to say the least. I got my picture taken with Stitch, AND I got my trademark stitch hat . It was awesome, yadda yadda yadda, but finally it was time to go to the castle. I had waited so long, staring at the castle from afar, that when we were admitted into the anteroom only to see about twenty families in shorts . . . I was a little surprised. I didn’t let on though, because I was still enamored with the suit of armor and the Queen and King’s throne. John seemed a little put out about it too, but he was still smiling. He managed to scoop up one of the smaller thrones for me, and he sat next to me on a bench. We decided to wait to take pictures until the waiting room cleared out a bit. He kept an eye out and when the throne was available he led me by the arm to it, sat me down, and got down on one knee in front of me. I can’t really remember what he said, but I know he told me how much he loved me and that I was his princess. He pulled a sparkling tiara out of his bag and placed it on my head. Then, to my surprise, he took out a shining glass slipper and slid it on my foot . He sat next to me on the throne and I was completely speechless. I’ll be honest and say that the thought that he hadn’t proposed crossed my mind, but I was thinking that he might have done all of this to make up for the fact that he wasn’t going to propose yet. A little girl walked by and asked her mother if I was a real princess. I certainly felt like one thanks to my prince.
When our name was called we walked upstairs to be seated and to my amazement, John had arranged it so that we sat in front of the beautiful bay windows , in the center of the restaurant. The area below had already been cleared out in preparation for the fireworks, giving us a perfect view of the park. It was absolutely beautiful. John had also arranged a three-course meal of anything we wanted so we were able to pick out everything right then (except for dessert ^_^). While we were eating dinner the fireworks show began. I felt like it was our own private show. We couldn’t see another soul in front of us, and it was just . . so . . perfect. After an amazing dinner of soup and steak and I can’t even remember what else John mentioned that we should probably order desert and take it home with us since we were both so full. I kinda looked at him funny, but agreed grudgingly ^^. A few minutes later the waitress (Lady Krisz) came to our table with a glass slipper on a porcelain dish. It took me a minute to realize what was happening… John got on one knee and this time he asked me to marry him . I of course yelled yes, and John said later that I answered before he was done asking the question! Lady Krisz grabbed our camera (which of course just ‘happened’ to be on the edge of the table) and took photos of us. John was so nervous that he almost forgot to put the ring on my finger. The ring was nestled in the glass shoe with a white rosebud and surrounded by rose petals. It was wonderful. It was perfect. It was the best night of my life. We had an alcohol-free Champaign toast , and we were treated like royalty. I’ve never been so happy.. We were served chocolate slippers with chocolate mouse and raspberries for dessert and Will you marry me? was written in chocolate on my plate. We received a certificate and a special pin with Mickey proposing to Minnie. We also were given “Cinderella’s Royal Table” Champaign glasses. As we were leaving, we shared a dance in the now empty anteroom and took our first step into our "happily ever after" together.

Waaaah, I can't post any pictures :(

Aww, what a great story and congratulations!

Yes, the minimum for a Magic Kingdom wedding is right around $52,000 but as of right now they aren't scheduling any weddings in the MK. Maybe after the 50th celebration is over, but nothing for sure. As far as a wedding in Pirates of the Caribean, I've never heard of that before. When you contact Disney you may be able to get more information that way. If you can't do a wedding in park, you could still have a Magic Kingdom bridal portrait (you and your FI/DH in your wedding clothes in front of the castle and usually another spot or two such as the carosel) if you have a wedding with Disney (this option is only for DFTW brides as of now).

Outside of the MK, the prices are a bit lower. $10,000 minimum for M-Th, $15,000 for Friday and Sunday and $20,000 for Saturday. These prices include everything for your wedding (decor, floral, photo, video, food, venue) that you book through Disney on your wedding day. As far as available venues, there is the Wedding Pavilion, right next to the Grand Floridian Resort on the Seven Seas Lagoon where you can see the castle. There is also Sunset Point at the Poly where you can also see the castle. Other sites include most of the countries in EPCOT World Showcase, Seabreaze Pointe at the Boardwalk and I think somewhere in Wilderness Lodge. For a reception, you can have it at most of the hotels, various places in parks (such as resturants in EPCOT or the American Adventure Rotunda or American Adventure VIP Room, Living Seas VIP room, Spaceship Earth VIP room and at MGM the Great Movie Ride, Brown Derby) These are just a few of the options available to you. Browse here for more info, visit the Disney Fairytale Wedding (DFTW) site, and maybe do some internet search. I know everyone here is willing to help with whatever you need!

Welcome and congratulations! :goodvibes

What a fantastic story! Congratulations and keep us posted on the planning!
Thanks so much for sharing that story with us :)

Congratulations! You were given some great information already, and there are lots of wonderful and unique venues to choose from at WDW. To my knowledge, Pirates of the Caribbean is not a bookable venue for FTW, but it never hurts to ask. Basically, only certain places can be booked by FTW, but don't worry--there are lots to choose from. We chose to have our ceremony at the Wedding Pavilion, but we then had an in-park reception at Epcot (in the American Adventure Rotunda). Epcot is a great place for in-park receptions without having to spend the $52K Magic Kingdom minimum.

has anybody actually had their wedding in the MK? or been to one in the MK? I haven't decided on a wedding location at Disney yet and if I'm going to be spending $50 000 I want to make sure I know what I'm getting and if it's worth it.

Didn't someone say that the MK wedding is now $500K?

I know the minimum s 500K now, but they are trying to get rid of it! I think the logistics of the event is extremely hard to get right!

I'm totally excited that I got the "somebody replied to your thread" message today. John and I are getting married at WDW in five days!!!!! :)

By the time we started seriously planning the price of the MK wedding was 500k. We were able to plan an amazing day for much lower than that...

10 a.m. ceremony at Disney's Wedding Pavilion

11 a.m. - 4 p.m. reception at the California Grill

8:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. - Illuminations Dessert Party at the United Kingdom Pavilion

5 days?? I was looking at the May date in your signature.

Congratulations-- Please let us know how it goes!

I see that you are doing a dessert party. That is really cool. I am thinking about doing that as well. You'll have to let me know how it goes. Did you have to charter a bus to get your guests there? I thought I read something about that

I'll definitely let you know how it goes!

All of our guests will meet at the entrance to Epcot and a Disney cast member will walk them to the DP. No buses needed :)

I think the difference in the busses is if you and your guests look like a wedding - ie dress, tux, etc, and if it's part of your reception, then you have to have busses. My reception is an Illuminations party (full meal plus the dessert party portion) and we had to get the bus - no option to walk in unless I didn't want to wear my dress.

MANDY,

I WISH YOU THE MOST MAGICAL DAY POSSIBLE ON YOUR WEDDING DAY. MAY IT BE ALL THAT YOUR HEART HAS EVER WANTED AND MORE.

I CANT WAIT TO READ YOUR TRIP REPORT WHEN YOU GET BACK:cheer2:
