Hi,
Newbie to thinking about a Disney wedding, and not for me - but for my daughter. We are researching Disney World and DCL - well, I am anyhow!

So...for a very very simple Disney World Intimate/Escape wedding, less than 10 of us (my daughter has three small children, and would also *maybe" be my other two kids who are teens, my DH, and of course my daughter and her DF).

On the Disney Website, it has around $2950 I think it was for a minimum for the wedding. Can a wedding be done for around that amount? The room costs are separate right? You don't have to stay in a mod or dlx resort, do ya? We might add on a couple of things, and I understand there would be additional cost, but we are a small family and my oldest daughter has never been to disney and even a very simple wedding - at disney! - would be very special.

What is with the $10,000 minimum total cost? Is that for one of the other type of weddings or for all?

One more thing (for now). Can the online wishbook be used for Escape or just for the custom type weddings? I tried setting it up, but it has that $10,000 min. thing showing up in the bottom corner

Your wedding pictures on this thread are so beautiful !! Can't wait to read some TR's !!!

thanks!

First let me say "welcome" and congratulations for finding the absolute BEST site for Disney wedding questions!

If you don't choose to do anything "extra" for the wedding, you can get the basic ceremony and package for the price listed. If you add flowers for anyone other than the bride and groom, pictures beyond the basic 20 photos, etc... it will cost more. Rooms, park tickets, food, etc...will all add on to the price.

Is it worth it ? ABSOLUTELY!!!

I am an August 1st Bride to be. My fiance' has been a DVC member for 10 years and I grew up 10 miles from the original "Main Street USA", so for us it was a no-brainer that WDW was the perfect place for our wedding. We are both in the 35-45 age range and not a first wedding for either of us, but we are going the distance with our wedding. We are having an "Intimate" now renamed to "Escape" ceremony, but for our small gathering it will be perfect.

I was able to open both the intimate and custom wish books, though that was before they made changes (again) so not sure if that is still an option or not. If you are looking at the Escape wedding, the items included for $2950 are listed under "amenities". If you just want to browse add on options, it can be done under either wish book just to give you ideas. It has been my experience so far, that if you want to add it and pay extra, they will allow you to do almost anything ! The $10,000 minimum is on the custom or Wishes ceremony. There isn't a minimum for the Escape, as the $2950 is the basic package. So I guess, technically, that is the minimum.

Anyway, I can't imagine a more special wedding than a Fairy Tale wedding, so good luck with everything. Any questions you have, post them here and you will get lots of input for former and upcoming DFTW brides!

welcome to the boards

the previous post pretty much filled you in the best.

If the wishbook is not getting you what you want...the next best thing is a live person....give em a call down at DFTW;)

I did an intimate in 1997 but Im now doing a vow renewal this year, so I wont be much help except to say I LOVED it & thats why we are doing it again:thumbsup2

keep us posted & we are always here for questions

Thanks so much for your help!!! That is exactly the info I was looking for! You really helped put my mind at ease, and I'm sure I'll be back soon with more questions! I can't wait to discuss it more with my daughter!

Hmmm...vow renewal...how much fun would it be for me to do that! We were married in 1990, so our 20 year anniversary isn't that far away. My DH would probably laugh at me if I suggested it, so I'd probably have to "rent-a-groom"!! :rotfl:

And congrats and best of luck to you too! I'll stick to the boards to keep learning...

Thank you as well folks! My special lady and I have been considering this as well. From what I understand it is $2950 whether you have two people or 18, is that a correct assupmtion? Perhaps extra so everyone gets a toast. . . . can we then reserve a restaurant for a nice dinner for everyone after the ceremony?

The 2950 is for people 2 to 10 there is an extra cost for extra guests up to 18. Once you have crossed the 18 barrier you are pushed into the Wishes weddings.

Just want to add that, as far as anyone has heard, the extra cost for more than 10 people at an Intimate/Escape wedding is just for more champagne. So far no one's been told there's a flat per-person fee over 10 people.... :)

For the Escape ceremony, is it like - wedding ceremony, champagne toast, couple of pics, and then leave?

What is approx timeframe from "welcome to your wedding" - to "wedding is over"

(I will read more TR's!) but if you go somewhere for dinner after the wedding (just can't see taking my daughter and her new DH to the Pop food court!), :rotfl: :scared1: do you go back to your room to change into casual clothes, or do brides sometimes go out to dinner somewhere at Disney in their wedding dress?

Thanks:yay:

The whole Intimate/Escape wedding shebang is supposed to be 2 hours, but I've heard of some brides being rushed through their receptions and others having extra time.

Brides can wear their wedding dresses at any of the resort restaurants or Downtown Disney - just not inside the theme parks.

Keep these questions coming - I'm bored out of my mind at work! :rotfl:

I am sure you will read in other peoples TR's that some did wear their wedding dress/attire to dinner. I think that the only stipulation is you can't wear it in the parks, so as long as you eat in a non-park restaurant I think you can do it.

We are having a 10am wedding and doing an informal luncheon at Cinderella's Royal Table. We think that would be a blast for the kids in us and the five kids joining our wedding as well. There are tons of restuarants you can choose from, and yes, this board will give you all the scoops. We considered Grandma's Attic on the Boardwalk and would have really liked that as well. But we opted for CRT for more fun and character interactions. Stay tuned on the boards for all the latest.

how exciting, you can always call one of the co-ordinators you can get their number from the website, they will answer all of these questions. You can stay at any of the hotels that you like, but you must stay at least 4 nights in a disney owned and operated hotel. I am getting married in November and the nerves are already kicking in, however it is so exciting and it is good to speak to others that are sharing the same experience

I have every confidence in disney they have been nothing but what disney is fantasmic.... ever so slightly brainswashed
