I know a lot of people were disappointed in the styles of the new Disney wedding dresses, so I thought I would share these links. I came across some information on another Disney web site that gave information on the dresses being offered to brides at Tokyo Disney. They are definitely what comes to mind of a Disney princess.

The first link includes some English translations, but the second one allows you to actually click on the dresses to see a 360 degree view.

i agree those are definitely more disney-like!

i agree they are so much better, they look like they have been inspired by disney

Those were very cool! I would not wear one but they were MUCH MORE DISNEY!!!! Thank you for sharing with us!

Now that's what I call Disney princess gowns ! The others didn't conjour up visions of the princesses. I didn't need to translate the language to know which dress represented which princesses ! Too bad the American designers couldn't get it right !

What I find interesting is that, if I'm not mistaken, brides just rent these gowns from Disney to wear. So you don't have to pay a huge chunk of change for a dress you'll never wear again (although who knows what the rental rates are!).

Another neat thing -- their wedding chapel, at the Hotel MiraCosta, is WAY more elaborate than the one at WDW.

I agree, I like the chapel also think disney needs to redo our floor...Japan has a nice marble floor while ours has an odd carpet choice that doesn’t go with everyone’s decor

While it think those dresses are more disney i dont think they would get the mass appeal (aka not just the disney bride) thatbdisney is going for....

That is an interesting fact, sounds like we might be missing out on some stuff.

I haven't seen the floor of the WP yet, but I'll be sure to take a photo of it for all of us when DF and I go for our site visit in August. The chapel in Japan is gorgeous for sure!!!

Wendy- I agree about the mass appeal. While I think that the Japanese style dresses are VERY princess like and look just like the ones from the movies, I think the reason Disney had an outside designer create them was so they would appeal to an audience wider than just those obsessed with all things Disney, like all of us  I also think that if the first round of designs came out looking too costume-ish/movie-ish, the dress line would not be able to survive because it would have only a very select group of women purchasing them. As they are right now, they have the potential to appeal to both Disney fans and anyone else looking for a designer dress. Perhaps we will see more dresses like the Japanese styles as the line grows in the future!

While I do think the Japanese styles are pretty, I am personally not a huge fan of them because I think they do look a bit too much like ones from the cartoons. That's not the princess look I plan on going for (but that's just me! For anyone else looking for that style I think they are perfect!)

The other thing I don't like is that you rent them. Maybe I'm weird, but I don't really like the idea of wearing someone else's wedding gown. Plus, I doubt it would save any $$ in the long run. I dont know about the prices in Japan, but if it's anything like the American Disney when it comes to overcharging for everything, they would probably at least cost between $500-$1000 just to rent them!

i wish i could see the whole gown on some, cause some look really neat

the belle(yellow) one & the blue cinderella one do seem a little over the top but the one at the top of the bride on the stairs looks really cool
I think with a little tweeking these are pretty darn close to what i thought was what they were gonna show here in the states

I think their chaple & that big flame thing are neat...id love to see an actual ceremony in japan

Many Japanese Brides rent their gowns because they also change a few times throughout the reception...a kimono, a white wedding gown and a colored gown. I have been to Mira Costa and the Ambassador Hotel at Tokyo Disney...both have chapels that are beautiful but neither of them have the view that the wedding pavilion at WDW has! It was a strange feeling but I thought the ones in Japan almost feel a little like a funeral home!:scared1:

A little off topic....
This is the WP floor (sorry not so clear and so large i dont know how to shrink things)...but i dont know why they didnt go with a solid color

Back to dresses...i would like to know how much those rentals are...

They're definately interesting, but a little too costumey for my taste...
I like some of the new dresses - particularly the Ariel line...

I agree, a solid color would have been much better.

I posted the Japanese dresses awhile ago when we first heard about it - I really thought the new Designs they would look more like that, just a little less costumish.

When you see it - you think Disney Princess, you just dont get that when you see the others

I feel as though Disney as alienated there adult Disney fanbase for a more mainstream approach - just my opinion;)
