Hi we'll be in Disney at the end of December. Does any one know if the water parks are open year round? And if so, do you think it will be too cold to enjoy them? I'm from the San Francisco area so if it's at least in the mid/high 70's I'll be up for some swimming (that's pretty nice weather for us! ha ha!)

Thanks everyone!:bounce:

Hi Krispe!

I've often visited San Fransisco in the fall, to visit a friend who lives in Big Sur. Boating out to Alcatraz in November was like getting shot with ice bullets. If you can even look at the SF Bay in winter, then you can handle the water parks at Disney in December!

THe waterparks do each close for a period each winter, but not at the same time. The water is heated year round, so even if the air is cold, the swimming is fine. The lowest I've ever seen (daytime) was aboiut 63. And I swam!

Maybe someone will put up the refurb schedule here for you. I think BB closes in the November time frame, and TL in Jan or Feb, but I could be way off. But I know they don't close them because of weather. It's standard maintenance, and that's the time of year to be shutting them down for such a purpose. Those dang Floridians won't go in January. They actually think 65 is cold!

We went in Dec. of 2001 and it was in the 80's everyday. So, as my tag says, we "swam in December".
Unfortunately December weather is very unpredictable. You can have warm weather like I did or it can get down right cold, but like Pat_Elliott said, the pools are heated, so if you really wanted to swim, you could even if it was cold.
Have a great trip:D

I'll make sure we all pack our swimsuits, now we just got to hope that at least one of the waterparks are not closed for maintenence work. I really want to go to TL, I want to do the snorkling thing!

Yeah, last time we went it was in October/early November. The weather was HOT some days and some days it was a bit chilly. Some days we had the tropical rains and other days we had freezing cold nights! Very unpredictable!

Gosh I realllllllly wish I were going now! Whenever I'm on these boards I start to get WDW withdrawls!!!! ha ha!

Thanks for the info!:p :sunny:

TL closes sept/oct ish till the end of December, and then BB closes from the end of dec till mid marchish.

It all depends on Luck if its warm enough for you to swim :D
