Disney wasn't always squeaky-clean

Take a look at the two-part documentary on Apple TV... before Bambi, Disney shares had nose-dived from $25 a share to $4. Disney refused to recognised the animator's union, and had personal disdain for one particular animator he had fired. He even got into a violent fight with the man and had to be restrained. Indeed, when Walt went on a tour of the Americas to escape the clashes, his dad died... and Walt refused to to go home to attend the funeral. As far as Roy went, this was fine, as he had been left in charge and was tasked with making peace with the workforce. There's a lot more, but I'll let you watch it yourselves. Bottom line, people didn't like Eisner much, but when it came to business savvy and personal decorum, Eisner was a total saint!

Historically, Walt Disney was a very demanding boss. I would not have wanted to work for him.

However, he really cared what customers like you and I thought about value. Those of us who grew up with Disney quality through the 1980s and before really appreciated the quality he (and those who followed) put into the product while still trying to maintain reasonable prices. Remember, until 1984, Disney was run by family members or those with a close personal relationship to Walt and Roy.

One thing that Disney had in SPADES to his credit it was IMAGINATION! The Big Five were phenomenal movies. And his dreams for EPCOT were spectacular.

What do people think of his vision of Song of the South? Arguably racist, I think it transcended this and was, IMO, actually rather innocent and child-like, in a good way
