Disney Waives Change Fees

I was able to cancel this morning for a Saturday check in. My points did not go into holding they went back into my use year. I have an October use year so I will be able to bank them in about 7-10 days once they are officially released. I was really relieved.

There are a few people who have said that DVC is doing things on a case by case basis, but working with members in ways that make sense for that situation. If you have to cancel or change, they said give a call and they will figure it out.

Be prepared, I also read that holds are very long and in some instances, the line is busy.

Today seems to be the day that attitudes are changing regarding going or not. I see a huge difference in local stores.

I have a lot of points for a vacation starting March 22. They are for the use year expiring end of May and we won't be able to use them by then. What is the chance they allow them for a future use year?

If I had to cancel due to Covid-19, I wonder what happens to borrowed DVC points from the next UY. I've got time for my 5/31 checkin so I have some time to watch this unfold, but I'd hate to see borrowed points expire unused.

I think if they are not banked, you may get them to unborrow. It sounds like MS is dealing with things case by case.

All you can do is call and hope for the best.

unable to get thought. just got thought and they hung up. redialed umpteen times but I'm on hold right now.

What they should do is send out something to tell people they can cancel online, and send an email to discuss options for holding, etc.

This way, they can deal with it later.

Sandisk, they should have sent something out with a link to either cancel and bank without penalty. So stressful for everyone.

Yes. My points are borrowed and I am sure I can rebook as long as not in holding. Most likely what I will end up doing..assuming we are forced to cancel.. is a modification which should be doable.

My problem is, I cant remember if I I barrowed from 2021or did I use the 2020 years points . I knew I should have wrote it down by I was in a rush just to get it booked at the time.

If you go into your account, and check the points, it will show you if you have borrowed points from 2021. If all your 2021 points are there, you will know you used 2020 for the reservation!

Cast member asking if you want to cancel today.
Then castmember talk to the supervisor to see if they agree to return your points or going to holding.
I'm not ready to do that yet, so I'm gonna wait another week to see what Disney is going to do.

Just called and cancelled our 4/20 reservation and DVC said they would return the points to the appropriate use year (regular or banked) and not go into holding. They did say it would take 3-4 weeks for the changes to show on account.

Do you have anything booked that you need to cancel? If so I'd say the chance was good, if you're UY is June and you haven't banked your points I wouldn't bet on it. But you never know till you ask.

So if I used my banked points from last year to book my March 2020 vacation what happens now? It would usually go into a holding account and you can only book a new vacation 60 days out during your use year. Is Disney finally loosening up on the 60 day limitation?
