Disney VS Carnival Glory

I enjoyed your report. I have cruised many lines and many cruises, both Carnival and Disney. I love both lines but I admit I don't like the layout of the Glory or the other ships in that class of ship either. I make sure I book on the other class of ships and it's great. I loved my Disney cruise and lets face it, Disney tends to do things right. The difference is I can take two cruises on other lines to one on Disney so I just don't cruise them as much.

Which class of Carnival ships did you like?

My DSs (14 and 13) and I will be embarking on our first cruise on the Magic in December. Your report has confirmed that I made the best choice for the 3 of us.
Thank you for your great report and the time you spent posting it.

I agree with your comment on the layout of the Glory. It seemed that you always had to go around that dining room in the middle to get anywhere. I also didn't like that the lounge chairs were nowhere near the pools. I like to be able to sit at the pool and go in for a dip without walking too far.

I felt that way on the Destiny and IRC maybe even the fantasy....

Is it possible to just walk the length of your deck to the necessary staircase/elevator to take to your destination?

Or is this trying to get from Point A to Point B without going to the lower decks?

I keep checking out cruise critic and it seems Glory is a mixed bag. Folks either love it or have issues with it. We just don't know what to expect. Looks like I may be spending the week on my balcony.:confused3

Makes me glad we booked a follow up Disney cruise.

Hi!
Having read all of this I'm a bit concerned!!
We go next October '08 on The Magic & my parents who are with us didnt fancy a Disney Cruise so they are booked to go on The Glory instead, at the same time!!
They are both in their 70's although still young at heart & have cruised many times(In fact they are also doing The QM2 next year!!)
Will they regret chosing The CG & would I be better trying to persuade them to come on The Magic instead??
I may have to let them read this report, but dont want to make them change unnesesarily(sp?)
Any thoughts gratefully received!
Thanks!
Sally x

Hi Sally,
All I can suggest is to print off my report and have them read it and let them decide for themselves. If I had never cruised Disney I would not of realized how bad the serivce was, although I certainly would of noticed the rudeness ansd the terrible debarkation.
After they read the report feel free to PM me with any questions they may have and perhaps I can answer them for them before the cruise gets here.
Good luck,
kathy
