Can someone please explain to me what perks are involved with Disney Visa? We use USAirways MC now so that we can rack up points for airfare, but it seems that Dis Visa offers much with this 7/4 (exactly what is this?) and possible 7/5 deals? Can someone please give me some feedback and answers? Thanks to all.

The 7 for 4 package was for new and fairly new Disney Visa (DV) card members; not everyone who had a DV were eligible for the deal. DV also has room only code out thru 7/4/04. Can not be sure what new deals will be forthcoming for current card holders. Many think the 7 for 5 deal being mentioned will be for everyone, not just DV card members.

I have a Disney Visa but do not use it as my "primary" card; you can earn reward points that can be converted into something called "Disney Reward Dollars" that can be spent at the Disney Store, WDW, etc. Here is a link for the DV reward program:

Can't really say whether it would be beneficial for you to switch from a frequent flyer card to this card for your main purchases. I guess it all depends on how much you charge and where your main focus is (airfare, WDW, cash back, etc). HTH

7/5 for even the public, not just DisVisa members? By having a card but not spending tons of money on it (not using it as your primary card), are you still eligible for disney info and other perks when they may arrive or would that be only when you earn REWARDS? Thanks for the info

The 7 for 5 deal is still a rumor, altho several posters have said they were told by CMs at CRO that the deal was coming (maybe as early as 5/8). Disney does not seem to care if you charge a lot on the card or none at all (to be honest, our DV pretty much sits in a drawer so we have few rewards built up). Other than the 7 for 4 deal (which was supposed to entice people to get the card), the current room only rate, specials at Vero Beach, etc seem to be available to all card holders. You also get little inserts in your monthly statement with various "deals" for limited edition figurines, etc. as well. I do not think they have marketed specific vacation deals to "high volume" users because I have seen others post that they literally use their DV card for EVERYTHING and still were not eligible for the 7 for 4 deal. It is possible that they will offer a 7 for 5 deal to DV holders first (to make up for aggravating so many with the limited 7 for 4 deal) and then open it up to the public....I really don't know. I got the DV card as a hedge in case deals were tied to the card.....we were eligible for the 7 for 4 deal so it has worked out well for us.

Actually the current DV codes are slightly cheaper then the anybody codes.

It doesn't matter how much you use it as far as using it to get code rates. We use ours all the time to get the reward $. While I'm sure there's other cards with better % returns (i.e. Disover is 3% I think) I like having "money" earned that I can use for Disney only! I'm afraid I'm not disciplined enough to put that 3% back into savings!

Disney Debbie: What type of DV codes are you seeing? Do I have to call CRO to get the DV price?

DV I believe is a work in progress. I received my card at the end of last year (says chartermember) and was just two months short of being available for 7/4 deal. There is a DV thread to discuss same and I would tell you to look it over. DV does a lot of different things apparently to target certain areas. For instance, 7/4 deal wasn't offered to everyone who applied for DV during the time as it was target marketed to certain areas. There is also double points going on in certain areas for using the card for other purchases such as grocery shopping, paying basic home bills, etc. I was not eligible for that either. Yes, not being eligible for certain items does tick me off as the only benefit I have had are the discounts they have provided to date which are not yet available for the time that I want to go to WDW. As such, I do not have any other cards that give me as many points as I have earned with Disney (My Discovery card hasn't and I don't fly enough to earn Airfare points to get free tickets). I don't put everything on my DV but I already have 32 points since December and should have about 50 total by the time I go back before end of year. I figure that I might as well get something back for what I am charging so most of it goes on DV and gets paid off ASAP. I figure that $50 is good for a few meals while there.

I just look on mousesavers to find whatever codes are out there! Of course the latest codes expired yesterday for DV rates and regular! But if I remember correctly the DV codes were $5 to $10 cheaper per night on the mods. The DV Florida resident rate for a mod was $69.00 - I beleive the non FL resident rate was $89.00. As it is I've ended up with just the regular FL resident rate of $74 because the dates we wanted were gone for the DV FL resident rate. (My mom is a FL resident and is going with us!)

I'm sorry - I wish I could remember better but I did all this a month ago and now all the info is gone since the codes expired!

We just got the DV to partake of the 7 for 4 deal and are going to AKL in June. How do we get our Disney dollars reward for the amounts we have charged? We use our airline card for most of our charging, but to participate in the deal you had to charge the vacation on the DV. I know the reward is only 1%, but we might as well use it while we are there. Does anyone have any info?

They will have to offer me more then 1% if they want me to use my Disney Card.
Discover gives me 1% in cash, and has some offeres for 3%.
Once I have cash, it is good for Disney merchandise and any other merchandise that one can buy with cash. I get a check without ever having to apply or make a special request for it.

1% that is only good toward a specific companies merchandise is not as good as 1% that is good for anything.

I don't know how much of the 3% charged for each transaction goes to bank one, and how much Disney is given.
But the typical 1% return to the buyer is not competitive and won't get my business.

Hi Eileen,

Discover does sound like a better offer but where I live, a lot of places that I shop at don't take it and are sticking to Visa/MC only (even AE isn't taken). I know that Discover started the 3% back recently as it has been advertised on the air but I think that is mostly for groceries. Maybe it is depending upon where you reside. In the end, I have other cards which have lower interest rates, etc that I use if I know that it will take me a few months to pay something off. Like I said, Disney visa seems to still be a work in progress.

for our family, this works out perfectly. The DVisa 1% over the course of a year will be giving us over $400 to spend in WDW. This is a large amount of free money just for using the card!

lucysdad - go here http://online.firstusa.com/bolHome.aspx?partner=disney and register your card. You can find out everything you need to know there. Basically you just request your Dream Rewards card and they send it to you. YOu have to have at least $20 the first time and then at least $10 after that to transfer onto the card.

I applied for my card the end of March and my DH applied the first of April.....will the codes we're anticipating for travel after July 4 th be for cardholders applying before a certain date?

I exclusively use my Discover Card and get 1% cash back, but that can be doubled with a few of their partners to get 2%. If I don't like any of the 2% offers I see which one is going for the most on Ebay (recently it's been Sharper Image Gift Certificates) and sell them. My last Sharper Image Gift Certificate sold for 75% of face value after fees, which works out to a 1.5% return on purchases. Selling the gift certificates on Ebay also helps with keeping money separate for Disney Vacations. The money ends up in our Paypal account until it is time to take it out for a trip.

My only complaint is that Discover is not accepted as widely as Visa or MC.

Thanks for the link to the DVC rewards website. I've had my card since March '03 and had never ordered the rewards card. I have $115 coming to me. We are going to WDW on June 25 and I want to purchase my park tickets at our local Disney Store before we go so we can get those additional reward dollars. My question is can the reward card be used at any of the WDW restaurants in the parks and/or hotels? How about merchandise shops? Just wondering. I read the booklet but didn't see where it listed these places.

It can be used anywhere in WDW that is actually Disney owned (i.e. not Swan or Dolphin!)

The Disney Visa card is provided by BankOne. BankOne also has a standard VISA card the provided a 1% cash rebate. I use the card for everything! It is accepted world-wide and provides cash rebates that I can use on Disney stuff or anything. For me this is the best value.

I understand that Chase has proposed a buy-out of BankOne. If the merger is approved, I would expect to eventually see some change in all BankOne products, including the Disney VISA.

If interest rates go back up, perhaps all rebate programs may disappear. Enjoy it now! Expect a change in the future.
