Okay, for those of you who might be interested, here is the link for the AMEX card mentioned above.

My question for those of you who have this card is how do you receive your rewards? Is it an annual check? Because they keep talking about "annual" rewards on the site.

We don't fly (or at least my brother doesn't want to fly anymore--he's had enough), so any cards with air miles do me no good.

I've had my LLBean Visa since it first came out about three or four years ago. I think more recent ones perhaps get other rewards.

Yes, the other AMEX card sounds like it might be "better." But it's not a "Disney" card.

Careful there... You may do best putting a Mickey sticker on another card that is not "Disney" and get far better rewards!

My anniversary date isn't until August, so they haven't paid on that card yet. On my other AMEX, they just credit the account with the money they owe me. It just becomes a credit, which I don't have a problem spending.

As I see it, you can never go wrong with cash. One size fits all, and it will always be used.

As I understand it, airline points are getting harder and harder to use as airlines are reserving fewer and fewer "rewards" seats. The more seats they "give away" the less cash they get.

What ARE Disney Dream Dollars? If they aren't Disney Dollars, and they don't seem to be or they would just call them that, then what CAN they be redeemed for. It would not surprise me to find the options limited to things the Disney Company wants me to buy (packages at WDW in the offseason, but not the busy)

Where are the discounts? If this is supposed to be the new and improved DC they where are the discounts? The only ones mentioned are only available IF you use your card and don't seem to be definite, permanent discounts. DC gave you a 10% discount on all TDS merchandise with a few specific exceptions, no matter how you paid. No mention of that. Also got room and package discounts at WDW and DLR, no matter how you paid. Again, no mention.

Need more info to know if this is for us.

Yes, airlines do reserve few seats for their rewards but if you plan ahead, book early enough *you* choose your seat and flight! And then when you take a look at their regular fares and see you got yours for free, keeping the moolah in your wallet instead... SWEET!

The trick is to plan your trip ahead. This year, we called early enough to secure non-stop round trip flights on row 3 (which we will try to change to 1 at the counter)

The thing about the Disney Visa is the hoopla over the "Day 1" inscription and the pin, in my personal opinion. They could do much better but possibly think that should turn the hearts of plenty of guests...

On the AMEX website it just says "UP TO 1.5%" and "UP TO 3%".

What does the "UP TO" mean?

I've seen some reward cards that pay you "Up to 5%" but the catch is its only on purchases over 50,000 per year....

I have had an American Airlines Mastercard for many years and have taken the whole family to Disney World from Arizona five times without ever buying an airline ticket due to this card. The airlines mileage program is a better value for your dollar for that Disney vacation if you are traveling from far away. The secret to getting to use these miles is planning your trip far in advance. The card may not say Disney on it but it is my secret for affording that Disney World trip.

Another thing I found out while checking out the various cash back cards - some are based on the amount spent per month and not the cumulative total. I called the various credit card companies to obtain this information on my cards. Some also give you back more if you do not pay off the entire balance....

Assuming you mean the Disney VISA:

no one has the card yet as they just started taking applications for it this week. It is a NEW card, hence the benefits are a little unclear.

I don't have the AMEX card, but I just wanted to say that I got an email today from LuckyPoints offering BIG points (over 14,000?) for signing up through them. If anyone's thinking about it, you might want to check your reward programs for signup bonuses.

It's all a matter of preference, air miles, cash, Disney Dream Dollars (or whatever their calling them). You're right, cash fits everything but if I get cash I'll just spend it on something else. Some people prefer air miles, I travel often and far earning well over 200,000 air miles per year and currently have a United VISA but it's $60/yr fee so I've go more air miles than I know what to do with. I use my VISA mostly for business travel and charge over $40,000/yr so this is great, I get at least $400/yr in bonus Disney fun, I've already applied.
