Disney Visa

When I booked our September trip back in January (before they released the free dining) I used our Disney Visa & got a 1 BDRM villa at SSR with the Dining Plan & 6 day passes for a party of 4 (2 kids under 10) for $2,900. I'm not sure what the exact monetary savings were but I know that we got a better deal than my friend who will be traveling with us & she is a Florida resident!

There aren't any discounted rates just because you book with Visa. However, there are discount codes put out by Visa which can be used by people paying with a Visa.

I had originally booked using my Visa, and the amount was exactly the same as shown on the DW site. However, once the codes came out, I called in the apply the discount to my reservation and had a pretty nice savings.

Well, perhaps i worded my question wrong.....I just meant any sort of discount that you can get at any point because of the visa. How do you find about codes? Just by on this website or does Visa contact you and let you know?

If they have an email for you on file, they'll send you promo's via email. I also get mailings now and then. :thumbsup2

Visa is SUPPOSSED to contact you, but they really fell short this year and many people learned about "it/discounts" here on the boards. But the discount was released FIRST to the card holders. (I had already gotten in on the free dining add on for this trip from the bounce back promo last year, unrelated to Visa)
As far as the card goes, when you pay for a package (not a room only) they give you 6 months free interest and no payment, which I guess helps someone who wants to save a bit or even make monthly payments rather than the "lump sum".
Also, you'll get reward credits for your purchases. Before I knew it, we had accumulated an amount that covers our out of pocket for the vacation :thumbsup2 (by charging stuff to the room and then paying it off using the reward card)
They also offer some discounts for tours and a free meet and greet character thing at Epcot, which I intend to check out this year (with a free 5by7 pix)
Can't recall anything else.
As far as DISCOUNTS go, I think others here on the Dis may know more ...
hope this helped a bit!

Hi! Don't know how long you've had your DV but I've had mine about 6 months and they send me updates by email and regular mail on specials being offered. I got an email from DV about the December code about 4 days before it became available to the public, and of course, I also found that out thru this website and other WDW discussion sites. I'm going in Dec. and got 20% off Backstage Magic tour. I think all tours are eligible for discount if paid with DV. You also get discounts on souvenir purchases plus Disney Dollars - $1 for every $100 you put on the card.

Oops, I read your email after I sent mine. I think you pretty well covered everything I said. DH and I will be staying at POR too from 12/8 - 12/15. :woohoo:
