Planning a trip for next spring and can't decide which card I wAnt to collect points on. Any suggestions?

I'm always trying to work the travel rewards! We travel a lot for work, so I really try not to spend anything on vacation air fair.

If Southwest is offering 50,000 points again, that is a great offer. Depending on the redemption points for flights, you can take 3 or 4 round trip flights on 50,000 points.

I also like the Barclay Arrival card. I opened mine in August or September and they offered 40,000 bonus points or so. You can redeem those points for a $440 statement credit. You earn 2 points per dollar spent and no foreign transaction fees. Whereas the Disney card, Southwest, and Delta Amex typically only award 1 point on most purchases.

Delta AmEx Platinum card offers one free companion flight per year. The fee is $150/per year, no foreign transaction fees.

There are a few websites that compare travel reward cards and programs. Take a look and see what the current promotions are.

I have the Disney card without the annual fee just to get discounts on tours. *ETA* Otherwise I don't think the reward program is good.

Good luck!

best return is the sw west credit card.....disney cards just does not have the best..return.. i use my southwest card for everything and pay it off every month...free flights for 4people is a better value when i need to convince my hubby to go to disney...lol:cool1: i use disney for trip deposits

Disney gives you 1 point/$1 spent. 100 Disney points = $1 in Disney rewards, which equals a 1% return.

SW gives you 2 points/$1 spent on SW flights, hotels, and rental cars; and 1 point/$1 spent on everything else. 70 SW points = $1 in SW airfare, which equals a 2.85% return on SW/hotel/car purchases, and a 1.43% return on all other purchases.

Looking just at the numbers, the SW card is a better value as long as you will use the SW points.

I have both but the SWA card is my first choice. We put everything on it and keep paying on it every few days. We very often get free flights which helps a LOT more than the Disney points.
To have an idea how much we fly free, last Sept all 4 of us flew free RT to MCO.
Then in March I flew RT free to MCO, paid for ds13.
In Aug all 4 of us are flying out west for free. (AZ/UT) I haven't bought return flights yet but booked ds17's return free on points. I'm hoping to only have to buy outright 2 more return seats but if I don't earn enough points I may have to buy 3 seats returning home.
In Sept ds13 & I are flying free to MCO, paid for our return.

I more than get my money's worth from the $59 annual fee.:thumbsup2

I tend to use both. I have the Disney Premiere card so use that at Grocery stores, gas and restaurants (and of course Disney stuff) where I get the 2%.

For everything else I use the SW card.

It's probably not the smartest use of the cards, and I know there are better rewards out there, but I like that these 2 cards essentially support my Disney habit, lol.

In a year I managed to earn enough Disney points to pay for all of our food at Disneyland (plus other stuff) and flew free to CA (Some of that was leftover from the initial 50K I got for signing up) but still probably have enough for 2 rt flights somewhere.
