It is something they when they can't fill the ship... They'd rather do that than discount everyone's fare...

I get that but since DCL allows cancellation up to PIF with no penalty what often ends up happening is many cruisers that were booked, cancel and rebook at a lower fare (this was a big thing with the recent Sept Wish sailing with our FB group that had over 700 members). It would be smarter IMO to offer it after PIF to fill the ship then even if it needed to be at a deeper discount because by PIF almost all cruisers except brand new ones have booked drink tastings and palo and things they might be scared to loose out on if they cancel and rebook (even if rebooking would be well worth the penalty).

I’ve had a couple of times when they had *GT rates before PIF.

The first I saved about $500. That was a nice saving on a 7 night.

The second I saved about the same but as it was only a 4 night cruise and the 3 night after it also had a *GT rate, I just booked another cruise.

Historically they have only offered after PIF - offering it on multiple cruises prior to PIF is definitely not the norm.

We booked the 10 night on the Magic this past July when DCL released the OGT rates - well before PIF. Seems like they should have waited until after PIF, but I was happy they released them early and we could book our excursions with the rest of the platinum cruisers.

Patiently waiting for the guarantee rates for the same cruise on the Fantasy in 2026. The 10 night was our most favorite cruise and can’t wait to sail it again.
