We're currently booked for our December trip as a room-only reservation at the AAA rate (booked directly through Disney). We paid one night's deposit for the Poly at time of booking using Disney Gift Cards (purchased at a discount from Target...our preferred method of payment for the trip).

According to some info here, there will likely be better room-only discounts released next Monday for Disney Visa holders, which we are.

However, I've seen some mention of needing to pay a deposit with the Disney Visa? Does anyone know what that entails?

Obviously, we've already paid a deposit and would prefer to pay everything with our gift cards, rather than the Disney Visa. Are we going to be required to put something on the Disney Visa in order to take advantage of the discounts for Disney Visa holders?

Thanks in advance for any insight on this!

Thanks for the info. Seeing that I've already bought all the gift cards for our trip, I really don't want to have to put anything on the Disney Visa, since that would be money I didn't plan to spend.

So, I called Disney this morning just to see what the options would be if a room-only Disney Visa discount is released.

In case it helps anyone in the same situation:

*We probably will have to pay a deposit (in addition to the one we already paid with gift cards) with the Disney Visa, but it depends on the exact offer they put out. It sounds like the $200 might be just for free dining and the room-only might be the one night's deposit (like $500 for us :scared1:)

*When we check in, we can get the Disney Visa refunded and pay with Disney Gift Cards instead. :woohoo:

*If we book the Disney Visa rate and the General Public rate comes out after and has the same discounts and availability, we can switch to that and get the Disney Visa refunded. :cool1:

So, overall, it sounds fine for us. We can temporarily put something on the Disney Visa to secure a discount. Now just must wait until Monday and hope the discounts are released. :rolleyes1

I am a Disney Visa cardholder. Driving myself crazy trying to plan a magical vacation!:crazy2::crazy2::crazy2: I sure would like a good discount! Preferable a FD discount!:coffee::coffee:

It does depend on the type of reservation. For a package, an additional deposit of $200 would be required; for RO, an additional deposit of 1 night's room + tax would be required :).

Thank you, this helps me, my card is on the way, so looks like I'm waiting till Thursday to make my call

DVR would be able to reserve starting Monday. If your card comes in before then, then you can call.

Otherwise, next Thursday would start general public and then no need to use a Disney Visa rewards.
