I'm trying to earn as many rewards as possible before my trip so I don't want to request any rewards just yet. I thought I read/heard somewhere that I could obtain my earned rewards from my Disney Visa at Guest Relations. Does anyone know anything about this? Has anyone tried this and been successful?
Any input is appreciated! :)

You can get your card at Guest Services, I have never personally done it but my dad picked his up in the MK last year said it only took a few minutes.

I forgot to add you can order the card now and transfer more rewards later. There is really no reason to wait you can always call or go online and add them later, I've even waited for my cycle to close while at WDW went online and transffered a few more $ over to spend.

We just did that when we were there in April. All you need to do is go to Guest Relations at any of the parks (we went to Epcot) and they will give you a card and a brouchure, all you need to do is call the number on the card and they will transfer your disney dollars to the gift card and it can be used right away!
Enjoy your trip :wave2:

Not sure about guest relations... I've used the rewards points by transferring them to a Redemption card that just acts like a Disney gift card. Once you have that card in hand, it's an instant transfer of any points via the Chase website. I think it took me a week or so to get the card when I initially ordered it, now I can just "re-charge" it when I have points available.

You can also use the Guest Relations kiosk at Downtown Disney. You can get your card or have rewards transfered to your existing card there as well. Be smart when you're transferring because it used to be you could only do it in 10 pts minimums. So you might have 20 and have it transfered and then build another 9 and not be able to get those tranferred. Haven't done it in awhile so this may have changed.

I'm not sure about that, but I redeemed mine online and received my card within 4 days. So you should expect to receive it fairly quickly!

What I do is order the card a few months ahead of time with the minimum number of points on it, which is 20. Then I wait until my last statement cycle ends before my trip to transfer the rest of the points so that I can get the maximum number of points on my card. The only reason I can see waiting until you get to Disney to transfer points is if your statement cycle ends during your trip. You just need to make sure you have at least 10 points to transfer.

YAY! We arrive June 1st and my next credit won't arrive until June 1st and its a big one! Thanks so much for the information.

I didn't know I could do that and have been calling to transfer them over. However, I haven't activated our card yet since we aren't going until the end of November. Can I still go to the website and transfer them over to our card even though it's not active?

Yep - this is exactly what I do as well. Ordered my new rewards card a couple of weeks ago and did the minimum transfer. Banking all of the rest until right before our Oct trip and will transfer the balance of points to it. :thumbsup2

sorry to hijack your thread, but was wondering if anyone knows if you can buy disney gift cards with the reward card?

we are 11 days out from our trip...I have a little over 400 dollars on my rewards card....i thought it would be nice if I bought 2 100 dollars gift cards & then gave them to each of my kids for spending $ while at the world..

before anyone flames me for giving my kids 100 dollars each, my teenagers have been really good this year in saving up their own cash, they dont get allowances & both have been on the all a honor roll all year...so I thought this would be a good way to surprise them ...

:goodvibes

No flames here. That's exactly what DH and I were thinking of giving our DS9 (who will be 10 next month) when we go. With one of us holding the card for him of course so he doesn't lose it.

Yes - I believe you can transfer Reward Dollars to a Reward card, even if it's not activated.

However, I do not see the benefit of WAITING to activate? ( i.e. Delaying activation does not delay the expiration.)

Yes, I understand. I ordered the card a few months ago but we didn't book our trip until earlier this month. I can probably activate at this point.

I was pretty sure that you could, but I checked DisneyRewards.com just to be sure, and it's actually addressed in the FAQs - yes, you can. That's actually a good idea if you've got reward dollars or a reward card that you're afraid may expire before you can use them because gift cards don't expire.

I would assume so too, because as far as I know, activating a card is only necessary to use it.

i usually wait until I get to Disney to transfer rewards. We browse the stores and decide how much we are going to spend, then transfer only what we need. That way we don't have to worry about any being left on the card that will expire. I have called while standing in line to check out; it transfers that quickly. You can also use the Disney Visa for your room charging and then you can apply your credits to pay for it if you have any left on the card. Happy Shopping.
