Disney Visa Rewards Change!

Got a letter from Disney Visa Card yesterday explaining a change in their rewards program....Instead of getting Reward Dollars you get a Rewards Card that is charged with the Reward Dollars you have earned. I guess you use the card sort of like a credit card.
I checked the online site, and where you used to pick the denominations of the Reward Dollars you now put a dollar amount on a card. I think the dollar amout is still in incraments of ten, with at least twenty to start.
The Reward Card is good at all Disney locations, unlike th Reward Dollars that were only good at the location you requested them for. In other words you can use the Rewards Card for DL, WDW, DCL, Disney Store, Disney catalog, Disney on Ice, Disney Movie Club, ect, ect...
An interesting change. I will cash in my rewards dollars soon for my December trip.

I just got this in the mail as well!!! Sounds like a great idea and I much prefer this instead of the other way!!! I will be cashing mine in soon and I really like the idea of being able to add on the Rewards Dollars instantly!!!

I found out you don't need to "order" your cards and wait for them. You can wait until your trip, go to guest services with your card and they will give you one on the spot (or so the bank one CSR said) which will work out well for me since I need to stop there to get my AP activated.

I got my Disney dollars in the mail last week ($150) and wish I would have received a card instead of all these $10 certificates. (this was before I got the newsletter about the card) I will be using them to renew my AP at the park so it's no big deal, but they are rather large. at least a card would have fit in my fanny pack. no complaining though because if I didn't use the visa card, I wouldn't have the extra dollars to begin with. gotta love that Disney visa card! I will be trying Mickeymule's suggestion of getting the card at Guest Relations while at WDW.

I did cash in 2 months ago and got some of the Reward Dollars and they are too BIG to be carrying around. Looking forward to getting the Rewards Card.

Had read they were changing the system so I waited until after Oct 1st to order. Got the letter on the change and my rewards card both today. I like the idea of the card and it can be used over again with new rewards. Just be careful because once they put rewards on the card the original expiration date applies. If you won't use the money in time you need to get a new card to apply it to. My first card expires 12/04. We will use it all on our trip at the end of the month.

I also like the card much better. I have a stack of the $10 bills to take next month. While they will probably go fast, the card is much more convenient!

Please let us know if you are able to get the card there. I'm going in 2 weeks and don't think it'll have time to get here before I leave.

We're also going to WDW in a couple of weeks. When I called to order the card, the Disney Visa rep suggested that I wait and get the card at Guest Services at Downtown Disney. (They were estimating that I'd get the card by maile on the day we were leaving which was cutting it too close.)

I'd also love to hear from someone who got their card on site.

My wife went on Website today and ordered our card with points. The site indicates we should have by 10/30. Sounds like about a 3 week wait period. Sincwe we are going again in Dec we are not to concerned if we get in time for this trip. But will let you know time frame as it happens.
