Disney Visa Reward Points

Can you use these points to pay for first night deposits?

The points have to be put on a Disney Rewards card first, then - yes, the card is like a Disney gift card and can be used for a room deposit. :thumbsup2

Yes you can. You just need to call or go online and request a card with the amount you want applied to it and once you receive it it will look just like a CC with 16 numbers on the front and an expiration date mm/yy. You just tell the reservation person that you will be using your Disney Rewards card and give them the card number.

I have used these points to pay for the deposit, the remainder of the resort charges, for food in the parks and at resort restaurant and for souveniers. They can also be used to purchase park tickets. I love love love the Disney Rewards Visa!

Just a caution when using the Reward Points for deposits.

Once the Rewards Card is issued it does have an expiration date much closer than the points expiration on your statement. For cards issued now it should be 12/31/13. If you cancel the room the points are refunded back to that card and they will still have that same expiration date. If the card has expired or will expire soon your points will too. Can't reverse points back into your VISA points once they've been loaded to the Rewards Card. So you'd have to spend them at Disney, the Disney Store, or DisneyShopping.com before the Rewards Card expires or lose them.

For this reason we use our points toward our room charge account when we are on site. If you have a lot of points you can use them toward final payment, but a good idea to avoid using them for the deposit in case your plans change close to the Rewards Card exp. date.

The points CAN be used for your deposit, but that doesn't mean that they should if there is any possibility that your trip might be cancelled. I realize this might not be your situation, but the info can be helpful to others.

I am leaving in 17 days, and a few weeks ago I called to transfer my reward points, and realized my card had expired. I was in danger of losing $140.
We got our new card in, called and they did transfer the reward.
But I honestly didnt know they expired so quickly.
But chase was good about the whole situation, it it won't happen again to me!
