RIPaula,
I'm not sure how the sign up bonus works. If it is in the form of Disney Dollars and not Disney Dream Rewards Dollars (they're two very different things) then it might be sent with the card. Dream Rewards Dollars are credited to your account at the end of the billing cycle in which they were earned. Given that you don't have your card yet, it might be difficult to collect any DDRDs by the time you go on vacation but you might luck out with the Disney Dollars.
fsu,
The DDRDs that you earn are good for 60 months from the date that they are earned, until you transfer them to a Rewards Card. When you request a Rewards Card, it and all the DDRDs on it will expire on Dec. 31st of the year following the year in which it was requested. In other words, a card that is requested today will expire on Dec 31, 2005. A card that is requested on 1/1/2005 will not expire until 12/31/2006. Very confusing!
You can apply the DDRDs to your resort bill. My advise would be to leave at least $10 untransferred. You can then make a last-minute transfer of the entire balance to your Rewards Card, since a minimum of $10 is required to make the transfer. That way, you can take advantage of any DDRDs that you earn between now and your vacation.
