Can you still get a Disney Visa Reward card at Guest relations at DTD and have it loaded with your points? Just noticed that last years is expired.

Ooh I'd like to know the answer to this too.

I had just planned on doing that when we get there next month but if I can't I would like to know sooner rather than later.

I was able to load mine at guest relations in HS (I was told I could do at any park, and DTD). I was given an envelope with a redemption card and a phone number to call. I was able to actually activate the card in my room after picking it up at guest relations in HS. The cast members said they can't do it for you as it has your personal credit card information. Was super quick and easy- took literally maybe three minutes to activate card- and less time to spend it ok upgrading to annual passes :)

Why not get it before you go??? I always claim my points on line and get the card fully loaded mailed to my home. No messing around at the park!

You're new rewards amount is updated each statement cycle, and mine is the 10th of each month. I leave the 29th and they recommend requesting 3 weeks before your vacation. So I think my timeline is cutting it a little close and looked up the Q&A on the Disney Chase Rewards website and it lists a bunch of locations on WDW property that you can claim your rewards. I am going to MK our first night and there is apparently a window just before bag check where you can pick up your rewards gift card as long as you have your card and an ID.
Hoping I don't have any problems! :scared:
Can anyone confirm this? I don't see why the website would list this info if it weren't true but I'm just a worry wart

I can not confirm above, but just an FYI, the new redemption cards do not have an expiration date on them so in the future this will not happen to you again :)

Just FYI- I didn't need any iD or even to show my card. At HD guest relations I told the cast member I wanted to put points on a redemption card and they handed me an envelope and instructions on how to activate. I took it to my room and had the points added and activated in just a few minutes.

I ordered my new card online, it was in the mailbox about 6 days later,it had no money on it at that time then I went online and moved the $$$ to the card in about 1 minute. Every month when my account cycle is complete and my balance for the rewards appears I move more of it to my card. I have one more transfer to do before I leave for my trip but I think I have enough on the card for 2 mickey bars :) Lets just say, I have 2 party nights x 2 tickets, a huge special card holders shopping trip in the summer that had 25% off using the rewards card balance which netted me 2 Vera Bradley backpacks and lots of other things, the Vera bags are not usually included in sales but they were if I used the rewards card. I have also paid for 2 Hallowishes Dessert party tickets. SO everyone can now see why I only have enough of the rewards card to buy 2 mickey bars!!!!

But OP why don't you order the card now without any money on it, if it arrives in time transfer the money online, if it doesnt' arrive then go back to your original plan?

What I usually do is order the card the month before my trip, for whatever my balance is, less $10, since $10 is the minimum transfer amount (ie., if my balance is $100, I'd order the card with $90 on it). Then, after my billing period closes for the month of the trip, I transfer whatever is left (ie., the $10 I left behind, plus whatever I earned that month). This give me the security of having the card well in advance, and allows me to use everything I've earned up to my trip.

In case something happens with the mail, I order my card ~2 months ahead of my trip with the minimum amount ($10) on it and then load it up right before I leave home. Maybe I'm too paranoid about losing it!

Hmm now that the cards don't have expiration dates on them, I might get a new card and do just as people are saying.
I am not planning to use points this trip so I don't have to have the card now but the just incase I forgot factor comes into play.
Then again, What I've done in the past is just pay for my trip with the points. Well pay what's on my card towards my balance. I have to carry my visa with me anyway so I can access perks, so why have to deal with the other card too.

Anyway, I love my points! I'm saving for a vacation that my points will be there for me to say "I need a vacation".
I'm glad to hear I can get a card and load it if I had to while on vacation.

We leave in 10 days, so it's too late to call and get one through the mail. Either I pick one up there or just leave it go until next year. No biggie!

I had no idea it worked that way!
I figured it was just set at the amount that you ordered it at, and you would just order a new card each time. That way makes much more sense than what I thought...obviously
Since i leave on the 29th, that gives me about 3 weeks... I think I might try to order the card. Wish me luck that it gets here on time!!

I already have a card with my points on it. Does anyone know if I can use it on the WDW website to purchase park tickets online? I have already purchased my room using my credit card. Thanks!

You can apply funds from a Redemption Card when purchasing tickets from disneyworld.com/tickets.

Yes, I did it this past week. You will need your ID and the Visa card to get it though.

Well, the only good thing about skipping yearly Disney trips so the kids can go to college . . . lots of Disney dollars accumulated over 7 years! Woo-hoo! I am so happy that the cards will no longer expire. That makes it easier. And since the last kid is going off to study abroad this year, we got him one of the Star Wars cards, and he will have his own Disney dollars to take with him when we go next year!

That is great to know! Mine is expiring soon and I was thinking this was such a hassle and frankly a waste of plastic to have to keep getting new ones.
