Disney Visa Question

Unfortunately if you pre-pay gratuities, they also have to be on the disney visa. I found this out the hard way. They become part of the fare. And if I recall correctly they send you an updated confirmation stating the gratuities become non refundable as per the pif schedule. It was about a year and a half ago that this happened. I could probably go find the receipt. I never prepay anymore.

I guess we've never been in that situation. We've always pre-paid, but usually closer to the cruise, not when we make the original reservation. And by then, we're pretty sure we're taking the cruise. Only cruise we've ever cancelled was right after the PIF date, when we got a great *GT rate (even with the penalty, we saved money). We hadn't added the gratuities to that one yet.

I also have a Chase Freedom card which is currently offering 5% bonus reward for wholesale clubs. I just used that to buy some discounted Disney gift cards (about 4% discount) That I will add to my Disney Vacation Account to pay for an upcoming cruise.

It's a $1500 max per quarter in case other people are reading this. The current quarter has the promo as does the upcoming quarter, so do it twice, for $1500 each time, once now, and once in October-December, for the maximum bonus. Sam's Club has free shipping on their online orders, and 3x$500 gift cards gives you the best discount on that end, plus free shipping, plus 5% back.

IMO the $50 from the Disney Visa is not worth it, and even the 1% rewards back is not as good as some other cards offer. I switched over to my Southwest card and it's about 1.6% back in points for flights, but there are cards out there that offer standard 2%+ cash back on all or frequently used categories. My cards are pretty though...
