Disney Visa points and packages

I tried posting this over at the Budget forum but no takers. Has anyone ever used their Disney Visa points toward a package? If so how did it work?

I have not used my Disney Reward points to pay for a package but it can easily be done as long as you have already ordered your rewards card from Bank One. Once you have your card with your points on it, all you need to do is call DRC to make a payment just as you would if using a credit card. Really simple and painless.

Yep! Pammy's got it. Just move the points over to a rewards card and use that as partial payment on the package.

You can use the rewards points for all sorts of fun stuff, including DVC dues and downpayments. Our last trip I had been meaning to buy my DD's AP with our rewards, but it ended up being more fun to use that as our restaurant budget (CM at ticket desk was having a tough day, so we made it easier).

Yes - my brother and his family just did this. My sil did not realize that once you transfer the rewards to a card they expire within a certain time - she just booked a package for Easter break and used those rewards as a deposit (I think they were expiring by the end of this year).

Now my reservation is through Dreams Unlimited, will this be a problem? I have over 1400 points and I don't want to screw this up. So far everything is working out for this trip. Got someone to stay with the dog, got great airfare price and times. Now I'm just waiting til after Jan 2nd to see what the packages will cost.

That won't make a difference. Just tell your agent that you want to use your Rewards Card. Give her the number that is on it, tell her how many reward dollars you want to use, and she can use it to make your payment just like she would your regular credit card.
