I'm not sure where to post this to get the most responses. What specific perks does a person get with the Disney Visa card? I'm looking online but don't see specifics. What percentage Disney reward does a person get? Any perks in the park? We have AAA so get tour discounts, etc with that.
you get points you can use at disney. one dollar for every $100 you spend on it. there are promotions from time to time and you get $5 for every $100. we've been able to use it for work travel so that really racks up the points!
and we're getting 20% off on divequest. all the specialty tours are 20% off
and if i can ask a question of the experts myself ... is it better to use your reward card as you go or use your room key and pay for things at the end of your reward card?
The main perk is the 1% reward dollars you get. At some times of the year you get double rewards for certain types of spending. Then there is the discount on tours. At Disneyland for the 50 year celebration they offer 10% discount in just about any store when you use the Disney Visa and spend a certain amount (might be $50, can't remember). Not sure if WDW is running a similar promotion.

The first time I requested the rewards card, I used it a little at a time in the parks, restaurants, etc. Your receipt will indicate how much $$ is left on the card. That system worked OK except some places acted like they had never seen the card before. Also, we ended up with about $5 that was never used.
This time, I will use the rewards to pay part of the room bill at check in/out.
Hmm, I get 1% cash back from my Discover Card, so it sounds like that's a better idea. I also have a Universal MC and get Universal tickets, etc from that. I can apply for a AAA Visa and will get 2% off thier packages (and 1% back on everything else).
Here's a perk I LOVE: Free Disney movie screenings. I've seen Brother Bear, Haunted Mansion, Heffelumps, Princess Diaries II, National Treasure, Valient, and Chicken Little.
I also like the perks they've added for the 50th anniversary which are 10% discount at the World of Disney Store and the Disney Visa Meet & Greet at Epcot and you get a free photo.
I also like the discounts online for the disney store online.
I have $270 on my reward card for our trip on Friday!!
Sometimes even if a discount is the same as another card, it's fun to get the rewards that can only be redeemed at a certain place. Of course financially it doesn't make sense, but it's fun seeing that we can buy Universal tickets for our whole family. Of course I could have put those purchases on my Discover card and gotten the case back, but free tickets, etc is a bit more exciting.
Like beattyfamily we have saved a lot of money recently beyond the 1% back. On our recent trip to DL I estimate we saved over $300 on different perks including tour discounts, 10% off shopping, and free photos.
It took them awhile to get there but IMO they have finally made the Disney Visa worth having.
