Ok, I was all set on booking hotel direct and buying tickets through getaway today. Then using my Disney visa $$ for shopping. Now I think I should book through Disney to get the extra features from the Visa like......

TTMM, the parade preferred seating, preferred seating a DCA, the free backpack, the meet and greet, etc, etc, etc.

Which is the best way to go? Is saving a few bucks worth giving up some of the other things?? I know my DD is really looking forward to my DS going to TTMM which we wouldn't get w/ getaway today.

ARGH! Thank goodness we aren't going until April. I need that long to figure this one out! :confused3 :rotfl2:

Have you priced out the difference? What is the difference in cost?

Have you done MTTMM before, or read what it is like? 4 years old is a nice age for it, especially if they like the characters.

Here's what it was like for us: DH, me, DD10 and DD5 went. We headed straight back to TT on a Wednesday. We waited to be let through the gates. We went to the square in front of "city hall"; not much going on yet, one of the tables with umbrellas had a "reserved for family of the day" sign on it. We wandered off to go look at some of the funny boxes and buildings around. When we came back, the square was getting packed. We got up in the bandstand, but some adults came afterward and stood right in front of DD5, so she couldn't see even up there. DH ended up picking her up so she could see. About 25 minutes after opening, the fab 5 came out (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy) plus the mayor and some other CM dancers. They did an enthusiastic little song and dance about 'welcome, it's a wonderful day, etc' at which point DD10 was making gagging motions (but then, she's doing puberty early, so eye-rolling is second nature for her). They had a family of the day come up and receive a plaque... they did a little cute thing where Mickey forgets his speech... but delivers an off-the-cuff welcome, and makes everybody there an honorary citizen of ToonTown. Then they sing and dance some more, and they all head off to their respective houses to do a meet and greet. But there's so many people there wanting autographs that the lines are immediately huge. No way will they get to everybody. The lines snake all over the place. There's a dude running around with buttons all over his coat, giving everybody "Honorary ToonTown citizen" buttons. The whole show lasts about 15 minutes, before the autographing lines start.

DD5 thought it was cute but was frustrated that she couldn't see well. DD10 thought it was lame, but that's just her; she's not a big character fan.

That was our perception of it; others might think it was better than I described it. Personally, I don't think it was that great. If that's the biggest draw to your package, it might not be worth it.

I thought the Disney Visa Meet and Greet was available to anybody who has a Disney Visa card, regardless of whether you purchased a package through them?

Is a backpack that big of a draw?

Do they offer character meals, or a gift card as part of the package? Those might be good and worth quite a bit.

I guess I'd just look at the worth of those items, and then the difference in price, and ask yourself what it's worth to you. If it seems like a good deal, go for it! Only you can decide.
