Hi All,

I've booked the 5/1 cruise and so, have given my deposit. I recently heard of the $50 shipboard credit that Disney Visa is offering. My TA said the entire cruise has to be placed on the DV, which is understandable. I did aske her about transferring deposit from current card to DV, but have not yet heard back.

Anybody else doing/done this? Any feedback would be appreciated. I know it sounds awfully frugal, but $50 is $50!!

TIA,
Tracey

We did this for our cruise in December. We booked over a year in advance long before DV was available.

I contacted our TA regarding this when I got my DV (Day one). She called DCL and yes, the entire cruise must be on the DV. She charged our deposit on the DV and did a refund to the card that we had used to make the original deposit.

Credit Card refunds seem to take forever, it did take a few weeks before the refund showed up, but it did show up.

We traveled with a large family group and my parents and my sister did the same thing. Got a DV, had the deposit moved to the DV, got a refund for the original deposit and we all got the ship board credit

The www.disneycruise.com website says that $50 offer is only good thru 12/2003.

does anyone know if this offer is still valid? I called disney and they said yes, and when I told them the website said just thru 2003, they said well, then that is when it ends, and they don't know yet if it is going to go thru 2004 or not.

so, I am very confused!

I just applied for a disney card and was hoping to get it soon to put a cruise on!!!

I just looked at the Disney Visa website. It says "Offer valid for most sailings through 12/30/04"

So yep its still good to go :)

Thank-you JayPd...I will change my deposit info tomorrow !!!!!!

When we took our first cruise summer of 2002 a first time cruiser credit of $50.00 per stateroom was being offered and at the time our TA (Costco) said it is always offered. So ask for that as well. They never really offer it, you always seem to need to ask for everything! But I pressed the issue with our TA and insisted she call DCL while I was on the line and low and behold she got back on and said, with surprise, that yes we got the credit and that is when she learned that it was always available for first time cruisers. Never hurts to ask.

I worked with DU this week about the same thing, the TA said she didn't think it went to '04 but I had checked the Visa website and said it did, so she billed all of the cruise to the DVISA and credited my other card.. $50 in on board credit pays for a few smoothies.. plus then you get more rewards $$

Now I just hope my disney visa come in the mail before my deposit is due!

Does anyone know the web address of disney visa?

The only thing I can find is the link off of the disneycruise.com site and it states the offer is valid thru dec 2003. I would like to print the 2004 offer to give to my travel agent

Thanks:wave2:

I booked through DU and they said I couldn't have the Disney Visa $50 OBC because of the the DU OBC that they give? So did your DU TA say that you could have both? I am confused. I paid for mine with the Disney Visa card anyway.

I don't see where that is related..the $50 OBC from Visa is from them and has nothing to do with DU..DU isn't getting their commission reduced..

We booked through DU in Sept, and they also told us that we couldn't combine the Visa credit with their onboard credit.

Does anyone know if it can be combined with the onboard credit you receive when you book while onboard?

crazy4cruises - I know on the link provided by SueEllen, it does state that it cannot be combined with any other offers so I would guess not.
