#1) THe extra points deal (2%) won't necessarily show up in the mail or on the website. Apparently we are "in" and have the $150 limit, but we rec'd no notice, and the website says nada about it. Had to call Visa to find out.

#2) Maybe someone said this before -- but the 150 limit isn't your total expenses for the month -- it's 2% for every purchase made that in and of itself is OVER $150 (or that's how the person explained it to me). In other words, my $25 gas purchases get me nowhere, and I may spend $100 at the GAP, but it's still 1%. But... if I buy a $200 gold-plated twinkie and use the card, that counts. THe only thing I wasn't wholly sure of -- do I get 2% on $200, or 2% on just the $50 that is "over" the 150 limit? Unclear on that, especially since this card doesn't really give 1% per se -- it's 1 point per every 100 dollars spent, so if you're at 99, my understanding was, no point! Is this an incorrect assumption?

In any case -- this newest "perk" doesn't do us too much good, since we don't have a lot of "big" purchases. Many of our bigger bills are auto-paid from a different account -- don't really feel like messing with that system! I do, however, still need to buy some 7 day PHP for our trip this August... guess that would certainly count, huh!

So everyone is eligable, and the purchase has to be over $150? I have the make a balance payment on our cruise. Maybe this would be a good time. What were the dates again?

Well, the sad news is, not all of us have been selected to receive this offer. BankOne and Disney are using this as a means of enticing certain of us to spend more on our Disney Visa cards, giving double rewards for those spending more then a set amount (for some it is $150, others $350) using their Disney Visa. I understand that this is for certain types of purchases between mid-March and beginning of June.

If you have been selected, you will get a card in the mail, or if you're impatient like me, you can check on your on-line account management for BankOne. I am told it would appear under "current offers" if you have been selected, and if it does not, :( sniff, it will not (we were not, apparently we spend enough on the card already).

Yeah, us too. We spend lots on the card. As a matter of fact I have 75 Disney Dollars for Dec., Jan., & Feb. bills...Awaiting our March Mega Bill! And we have a cruise to Bermuda that will be charged on April 8th for $2600...so I guess we're gettin' no perks from Visa, huh? Bummer! It was gonna be a big bonus!!

Actually, from what I've seen on my statements, they round up to the nearest 100, so 99 would get you 1 point.

I just checked my mailing, it states-"Earn 2% in Disney Dream Reward Dollars for every dollar you spend over $550 each month from March 15,2004 through June 30, 2004." Maybe I am wrong, but I am taking it to mean all purchases big and small. Any one else want to make a guess?

my letter says:

"every dollar you spend above $150 each month you earn double Disney Reward Dollars". Earn 1% in Disney Reward Dollars for every dollar you spend up to $150.

This means exactly what it says. After I spend $150 each month, I get 2% on the rest of the cash (not purchases) I spend.

I'm going to start spending

Ours was only if we charged more than $850 a month. Can't say that I am impressed. I also noticed that there is a lifetime limit on the amount that get the 1% back on in the fine print for the lifetime of the card. I think that it was $75,000 if my memory serves me correct.

Do you still want the 20% off Disney swimsuit coupon? I had sent you a PM. I still have it for you.

Pam

My offer said something about "earn 2% of groceries, utilities, wireless services, gas...". There was no mention of a dollar about, so I'm guess if I use it at the gas station or grocery store, I would earn 2%. Not a lot, but every little bit helps! :sunny:

Mine said this same thing.

I have received the same exact offer from my United Mileage Plus VISA, but not for our Disney VISA. We have ignored the Mileage Plus VISA over the last year in favor of the Disney VISA. We built a house, ran many of the purchases through the Disney VISA and just cashed in $675 for our recent trip. Sounds like they are not marketing this program to heavier users of the Disney VISA.

You can only earn 750 DDRD per year or spend $75,000.

It is per year not lifetime of the card.

Mine said the same thing. So, I got started tonight!:smooth:

Put our Auto insurance on the Visa for the first time and when the bill comes I will pay in full (as always).

Our vacation extras will be put on the Visa as well! I might need to make a mid-month payment so I don't faint when the actual bill arrives!

I shredded my letter since it seemed so ridiculous. The big type talks about 2% on purchases as you quote above....read through the fine print and you will find the minimum per month you'll need to spend. It seems to range from $150-$850 to qualify for the double points. I guess I'm used to American Express being a little more straightforward -- double miles are double miles, no minimums to meet first.

A few things to add to my original post:

We did NOT receive anything in the mail -- NOR was it in our website info on perks! And I checked again today -- nothing. THe ONLY way I found out was to call. WOuldn't have known about it at all were it not for the fact I read these boards!

Well, an update -- got home after some errands, message on my phone -- It's the Disney Visa lady. Says she "goofed" when she told me it was every SINGLE purchase over $150 -- turns out it's every dollar over $150 per billing period. That is better, I guess!
And closer in agreement to what everyone here already heard.

In any case, it's nothing to make me go card-happy.... though an extra buck here and there sure won't hurt.

I called Bank One yesterday, and the rep. confirmed that there was no offer for me (DVC member on card). She did a lot of looking and talked to a supervisor who confirmed that I did not receive the offer.

Interesting. Our 2% is on any purchases that exceed $850 in a month.

They must design the programs based on credit limits, past spending patterns and certain other demographic data. It is a sophisticated approach to increase card use.

But doing so does not project a very good image when the internet provides a forum for us to compare what has been offered. Especially when the front page pitch to grab your attention gives you one impression and the fine print takes most of it away.

We found that we are not included in this trial, although based on how successful it ends of being, it may be rolled out to a larger number of accounts or for a longer period of time.

The only other comment that I would make is this is strictly a Bank One decision, not Disney.
