I just got my card and want to make the most of my $$ (don't we all ;) ) Any advice/tips/experiences that you want to share?

Anyone interested in starting a FAQ?

I use mine like a debit card and pay off the balance at the end of every week to avoid any finances charges since the APR isn't the best.

We are a Charter Card member and have used it just like our previous VISA. The only tip I'd share is DON'T cash in your rewards until you are going to use them--once you cash them out, there is an expiration date and you "use them or lose them". There were some very upset cardholders on a summer post who lost significant amounts of reward dollars because they didn't understand this. Other than that, can't think of any hidden issues with the card. Pay it off wisely, and you'll be fine. We spent our reward dollars at WDW this summer and had no problems :)

I think if you use your Visa card and you reach $250 per month,
anything over that, and is paying bills (phone, elec, other things too..)
gets you double points...Check into double points.....

I have never received double points and I charge over $250 every month.

I think that $250 was a special promotion you had to register your card for.
I know we did and we got points. BUT I thought it was for certain months only and it took about 12 weeks to see the points.

From what I have been reading, not all members were offered this promotion.

I do this same thing. I write every DIS VISA transaction into my checkbook just as if I were using my debit card. When I get my bill, I add the dollar amount back in and pay the bill. Works great, and no remorse when the bill comes that I spent $1200! Every penny is accounted for in my checkbook!

Great tips so far. We do plan to use it a lot. We have used a SkyMiles AMEX card for years and our philosophy is charge everything we can...but always pay it the entire balance to avoid FC. It has worked well for us. We have taken three trips to WDW (family of four at the time) and one to San Francisco all on award tickets :cheer2:

The idea about logging it in the checkbook is a great one. Avoids 'shock' when the bill comes :rotfl:

How about some basics. I can not remember when I applied how this whole thing works. How do you get Reward Dollars and how do you spend them? Can you spend them on anything at WDW (resorts...tickets...meals) or are there limitations.

Hate to be so clueless...I will blame it on the 'new baby brain' ;)

The Rewards Card is like a credit card and you can use it anywhere Disney - Disney Store, parks, restaurants, etc.

Regarding the double points. Not all cardholders are offered the same promotions. For me I had to spend OVER $2300 in limited categoryies to beging to get double point on purchases OVER the $2300. Others I have read didn't even have minimum it was on ALL purchases.
