Disney Visa discount

We sailed on the Wonder at the end of May. As a Disney Visa cardholder, I made sure to have it as the card on our account. I added gift cards throughout the stay to cover most of what we spent. Having the Visa on our account gave us the discount at the gift shops no problem but when I asked about a discount on photo packages, I was told there was not one. We ended up buying the 15 photo package. When I asked about the discount and was told no, I used another gift card to pay off our account instead of letting it go on our visa.
Fast forward to getting home and checking the T&C on our card and sure enough, photo packages are listed as a 10% discount. I emailed DCL and the response was that I didn’t actually pay with my Visa, so I didn’t get the discount. So this is a caveat, just having it on your account doesn’t work for everything.

Actually you didnt pay with Visa. You paid with gift cards. You have to have the payment actually hit the Visa. When you bought the pictures was it the last night or last day? Your account would have been closed by then. I am guessing that is the reason.

I don't think this is true is all cases, but might be true for the photo packages. We put $400 in Disney Giftcards on our stateroom account on day 1, and had our Disney Visa as the form of payment. We made a purchase over $50 in the shops, and got a massage on a port day. Both of which we received the Disney Visa Discount, and we were only charged around $100 in excess (beyond gift cards) to our Visa. The Massage alone was over $100... Both discounts were taken at the time of transaction, not after it hit the Visa. However this was from 2017, so maybe the policy has changed. And maybe the photo package is different...

This is what I’m saying. The discount was applied to shop purchases before anything was or would have been applied to my Visa. For the photos, they told me there was no such discount when I made the purchase. Then when I emailed, they said it didn’t qualify because it wasn’t on my Visa, but all other discounted purchases had the discount at the time of transaction not when it posted to my Visa.
