Disney VISA credit card rewards

Has anyone ever used these reward cards in WDW? I just got my first card with $500 reward dollars on it. Are these the same as regular dollars, i.e. I could give at Saratoga to pay $500 of my room bill?

You can use them on anything at WDW. If you booked your room with points, I don't see how you could use the reward dollars. But I bet you could use those reward dollars instead of points and you'd be saving yourself a lot of points!

Yes, that is correct. You can use it anywhere! We love using ours! It's such a charge to get FREE STUFF!

When we check-in, I present my rewards card and have them put the dollars towards what our balance will be for all our "incidental charges". It's easier to do it at check-in. Last time I forgot, and did it 3 days into our trip and the CM for some reason had to "check" us back in and issue new keycards. Took about 20 minutes at the desk.

You can also use them to pay DVC dues.

Just be sure to use them. There's a discussion on another board about people who loaded the points onto the reward card and didn't realize that creates a new expiration (different from the point expiration you see on the statement for points you haven't put into reward status). I'm not sure when it is, but I think it's marked on the card -- it could be the end of year. The people were upset because if you do miss that deadline the points are just "gone" -- invalidated.

It is the end of the year. You need to transfer the dollars to a "rewards card". once you get the card you can directly transfer your rewards each month, but the cards have expiration dates, so dont transfer over any more than you know you'll use.

as far as what to use for, just about anything. easiest, as someone said, use it for charges to your room that normally go onto credit card or towards tickets

We always use the rewrads dollars to buy frivolous stuff like Pins , Pins and more Pins. It's actually fun to use them things that you may not normally buy as much of without them.

So right, HBC, so right. Definately pins, and also other souvenir type stuff. Kind of a petty or unbedgeted cash fund. And as a stockholder, I am happy to read that line that I put in bold in your quote .

We load it up just before we leave, and spend it down when there. I have never come back from WDW with more than about $3 left on a rewards card, so that exp date doesn't worry me.

It is very easy to use the reward card all around WDW. Give the card to the CM at check out, where ever you happen to be), they scan it. The receipt has the balance at the bottom so you know how much is left after each purchase.

Like pumpkinboy, I never have any left. If you have a small amount left and purchase something over that amount, you can simply give the CM cash/credit for the difference.

Like others have said, it's wonderful getting stuff for "free".

That's why I used my rewards to pay the annual dues...in my twisted mind I am convinced my DVC is totally free...well at least this year anyway!

I just got off the phone with Account Services and paid for my annual dues with my Disney Visa - just all the main 800 Member Services # and listen for the instructions to transfer to Account Services. I even had my dues set up for checking account monthly debit and she was able to easily make that change - the whole process took under 3 minutes!!

I understand that we can use the DVisaCard to pay for annual dues, but how do we use the Reward Dollars to pay for annual dues?

You just transfer the reward dollars to the Rewards card and call Member Services. Tell them you want to use the reward card to pay your annual dues and they do the rest. Very painless!

One note regarding the comment that they can be used anywhere at WDW....not always the case. I saved my for something special like the the spa at SSR on my last day and they would not accept the rewards for payment. I was able to use them for dinner that night at California Grill for our group of 4 since they were due to expire 2 weeks later, but I found this to be just one more reason I was disapointed with the Spa.
