I do not have a Disney Visa but would like to apply if it will be useful in securing a discounted rate for our December stay. I would like to know if I apply now so I will have the card if discounted rates come out, will I be be "shut-out" from offers that only pertain to "new" visa accountholders?

I haven't seen any offers that apply only to new cardholders, but right now they're giving extra points to those applying on line. I just applied for mine for my upcoming trip and will get it any day now. Since there is no annual fee, why not just get it now?

Your guess is as good as anyone's where the Disney Visa is concerned. I think the card is a "work in progress".......they keep tweaking the offers, etc as they see fit. I do not know if they will do another "new member" package deal as there was a lot of unhappiness from current cardholders who were excluded from the offer. I think they will continue to offer deals like the current summer package or room only discounts but can't be sure that any deals will extend into December for your trip. If you want to earn Disney Visa Reward points with your purchases and have the card available in case a special promotion comes up, then apply for it. But I would not necessarily apply for it strictly in hopes of another new member deal like the 7 for 4 package. HTH

Thanks for your input catnik...

CharlesandCamilla,

How do I apply on-line. Do you mean through the Disney website or some other way?

This is the link for the card. Right now they are giving $25 in rewards...that would have taken spending $2500 on your card to accumulate.

I was in the same quandry as you...apply now or hold off if they released another deal like before with the 7 nights for the price of 4. This is what I decided to do: I applied for myself alone. If they release a deal for new cardholders only, then my husband will get one for himself.

I don't know if any great deals will be released for current card holders or new members, but at least in the meantime ntil our trip, I'm earning a tiny bit towrds our resort room.

Discount codes for Disney visa cardholders for Room Only (that ended in April) were $5 less per room than the other discount codes.

Going on the silver in July. I'm getting 2 rooms at WL with the card for the same as CBR without the card. Just got my card in the mail and on the phone right now.

Thank you for all of your help...

my3kids, We are of the same mind. I applied today in my own name. This way I will have the card to use immediately if any offers open up. My husband can apply if an offer presents itself in the future. Also, as you stated, I can start to rack up a few points to use for our December 04 trip. The interest rate is of no importance to me as I have no credit card debt and never will! Age has its advantages!

You haven't seen any that apply to new cardholders? what about the 4/7 deal that just expired a few weeks ago? that was for new DVC holders only they had to apply between Jan and and March 31. and book the deal by April 30 for a stay before Oct 31 got Seven nights room and tickets for the price of 4.
So yeah they do offer specials to new cardholders only. as well as other offers.
