I am thinking about upgrading to the premium Chase card. Even with the annual fee I would make more in rewards...

I received mail from them with a $50.00 dream rewards bonus offer if I upgrade.

My question to you, o' wonderful Dis friends, is CAN I GET A BETTER OFFER? Yes, I am being greedy  but I am sure I have seen higher offers in the past ($200???).

If you have seen better offers recently, please let me know where.

I've only seen the $200 offers for people who don't currently have a Disney Visa card. The best I've received myself is only the $50 offer for upgrading like you.

The best I have seen was the 5% off in the 2% categories for the first 3 months. They cancelled that back in mid 2012, so I did not upgrade.

I instead bought all my Disney Gift Cards for ~18% off using my 1% Disney Visa, and will be using those Gift Cards for all my Disney expenses, including Park Tickets and Food.

We upgraded with the 5% bonus disney dollars for 3 months offer this past spring. It was a great deal for us - we used it to the max and earned about $700 in Disney dollars for the 3 months.

It frustrates me how new customers get much more for joining than those of us who have been loyal for years do!

When we upgraded there wasn't much of a "bonus" but it's a no brainer to do if you put everything on your card as we do. The annual fee is minor compared to the extra 1% you get back on so many things. No Disney fan should be without :thumbsup2

We were not new customers when we upgraded, we have been customers since the start of the Disney visa (charter members).

I did the apparent idiot thing and just went to their website and applied -- no initial bonus (april 2011).

Of course the idea than was to charge everything and than take a big trip in a couple of years, next week will be my 3rd week+ trip in a year, so that turned out meh.

I called them and said I wanted the $100 offer even though I already had the regular card. They were great and looked through all of the promotions and gave me a $200 credit once I used the new card. I have over $800 built up already. Its a great card!

I just got mine last month at Epcot during the Food and Wine Festival. They were offering the $100 gift card instead of a statement credit upon approval. I spent another 30 minutes at the park then drove to Downtown Disney and picked up my newly printed card. Love it!

The problem I have is paying an annual fee - just not going to pay to get more.... more other credit cards offer a lot better deal.

Sometimes 5%, sometimes 10% on certain purchases - compared to 1%

We have NEVER received a bonus offer from Disney Visa for more than 1% - no promotions at all!

We get 5% and 10% offers from Discover all the time!

We got $200 when we signed up for the regular card a few years back and then $100 when we upgraded so for us it was a better deal than a new person signing up for the premier.

Interesting. I get offers from Disney for more than 1% all the time? Premium card is 2% on many things and although I hate annual fees normally this is made up for in 1- 2 months for me. That leaves 10-11 months of extra $$ to spend in WDW  Also interesting is that my Discover may offer me 5 (never 10) percent deals it ALWAYS comes after I spend a minimum first. I have discussed this with them since I used it a lot b4 Chase/Disney came along. They won't do anything to match so.........

DH and I just got the offer. We are contemplating it, but am a little concerned at the small print that says the 2 percent on groceries, food etc. is not always the case. It is at the descretion of the merchant. We do use our card for everything and would love this 2%, but if it is only on select purchases and cost s49.00 a year, we are not sure if it is worth it.

If anyone who has had the premiere card for awhile, could comment on if most of your purchases counted toward the 2%, that would be so appreciated. Also, do you know if we have reward points on our original card, will these transfer over to our new premiere Visa. THANKS so much. :)

I've had the card oh 2 yrs appx. Yes the points transfered easily. I find all my groceries to be 2% if they are grocery only.In Illinois that's Jewel-Dominicks-and a host of new specialty grocers. A grocery purchase at Walmart or Target is still 1% . I beleive all my gas has come in at 2%. If you are a Disney fan I think you'll benefit for sure. My 49.00 fee is absorbed in the 1st 2 months. The rest is extra spending dough down in Florida :cool1:

From what I understand, stores are "coded" in the cc system as a particular type. Target/Walmart would be coded as department stores rather than grocery stores. So if you are purchasing your groceries there you would not get the bonus that a real grocery store would get you....

Thanks, that makes sense. At first, I was not sure what they meant by coding and was thinking only some grocery stores counted, but did not let you know which ones. We do most of our food shopping at real grocery stores so that is good. Thanks again for the information. :)

I'm sitting here contemplating this card and just realized, if I go to my local store that offers gas points, I will get 2% in Disney rewards and then cents off my gas to get to Disney. :goodvibes

Has anyone used their Disney rewards toward airfare? We are considering an Adventures by Disney to Scotland in 2015 and thought this might be a great way to save towards it. Can you use the rewards to pay for Adventures by Disney trips?
