So I have decided to use my disney visa card to basically pay for all my monthly bills:
gas, groceries, light, cable, insurance to wrack up points for our trip in April. Every little bit will help.
Does anyone else do this or have other suggestions on how I can add up points quickly with this card.

That's what I do. Just make sure you pay it off every month - if you're paying interest, the points don't really matter. Also, make sure you're not paying more in fees for anything (I could, for instance, pay my mortgage on a CC but I'd have to pay a fee of more than what I'd earn back in points).

I agree with msmama. We use our Disney VISA for everything we can, and pay it off every month. I have been doing this since Day One with this card, and it's saved us a bunch of money. I can rack up about $800 or so in a two-year time span, which will pay for a couple of park tickets or a LOT of food. It's nice. Yes, there are other cards with better cash-back incentives, but I like that THIS incentive is "ear"marked for the Mouse! Actually, I am considering upgrading to the premium card. If I can get a good incentive that will offset the annual fee, I'll probably do it, although I think we would make more than enough in points to offset the fee. Just need to look at the numbers.

I use my Disney VISA for everything and pay it off at the end of every month. Over the years, I've racked up enough points to pay for flights, all of our meals on one trip, etc.

Check your limit. For some reason, this is my lowest limit card. It was something ridiculous like $700 (I have excellent credit and a decent income). I requested they up it. I mean how would I book a Disney vacation for $700??? They upped it to $1400 no questions asked, so I still can't put everything on it. I'm thinking of either going premium or asking for another increase now that I am pretty sure we are returning to Disney next year.

I balance it out with our Discover cards because I can use $45 of that cash back to get $50 gift cards to Landry's restaurants.

The other thing is really pay attention...like set an alarm in your calendar or something. I usually pay all our credit cards off every month, but in the 15 years or so I have been doing that, I have goofed twice and then had to pay the late payment and interest!

I use my Discover Card for all purchases and bill payments that I can. Discover does a 5% cash back promotion every quarter on specific categories. So, I get more than 1% each month. I use my Disney Visa for large purchases (a new washing machine or new furniture) just to separate my bills. As of now I have almost $500 to use on vacation and a few more months to accumulate rewards.

I too have a Discover card but not the credit available that I have on my Disney Visa. thanks for the feedback. Even if it's only 200 by when I go that's 200 more than I started with :)

I put as many bills as I can on a rewards credit card, but not my Disney card. I find their rewards system to be too restrictive and the amount that I get back for my purchases is too small in comparison to other cards. Like others have already pointed out, paying in full and on time is essential to benefiting from any credit card rewards. Rewards cards have higher interest rates than cards that don't offer any rewards.

My family has been doing this for two years. We use our reward dollars on souvenirs while on vacation. That way when my 4 year old son wants a toy, I don't cringe at the price too much! Last year we had $400 in reward dollars for basically paying for bills, gas, groceries that we were going to pay for regardless. :D

I have been thinking of doing the same. Just never paid an annual fee for a credit card so I'm still thinking on it. No doubt we would recoup the fee with the extra percentage it's just knowing you are being charged for the card.

I would suggest getting more than one rewards card to earn the "sign on" bonus. For example, I received $150 from the Disney card, 2 free nights from the Hyatt card, and 2 free flights (actually 50,000 points) from Southwest. You do have to charge a certain amount over the first 3 months to get the bonus.

Be sure to get your free picture at Epcot with the Disney card!

I just switched to the premier card last month (so can't tell you if it's worth it yet :-)) but it had a $200 statement credit after spending $500. They credited it that first month, as I hit $500 quickly :D. I figured it was worth a try because the $200 is 4 years of the annual fee. We have 3 rewards cards - DIsney, southwest and amazon. Disney is used when I have a trip coming up. I believe we have about $200 so far and have 6 months to go, so will see if the premier card helps more. I also had enough southwest points to fly all 5 of us for our trip. We've been saving those for years, we rarely fly. The rest of the time I use amazon to save up for christmas, I am a big amazon shopper (because I hate shopping in general). This will sound odd (though maybe less so on the DIS), but if I have to part with my money, I do enjoy handing it over just a little more via a pink card with Mickey and Minnie on it. 8-)
Agree with all PPs that it needs to be paid off every month. Being charged interest defeats the whole purpose.
Another side note, I applied for the premier card under my name only. I work very per diem, mostly am a SAHM. I was given a huge credit limit. Do have a good credit score but I was joking with DH that that is what's wrong with America. A huge credit limit given to someone with very little income. :P In contrast, I was denied credit at Sams club once when I had forgotten my debit card at home and only had Visa on me (they only took MC).

I get a higher percentage back on gas and groceries with other reward cards. We did open a no-fee Disney Visa again last year for the $200 gift card bonus.

I put every thing that I would only get 1% cash back from other cards on the DVisa including my Comcast bill; they do not charge a fee. When I bought a car a few years ago rather than right a check for the pretty hefty down payment I put it on the DVisa; money was in my savings account so paid it right off

I'm an ap as well, so not only do I get the great reward card benefits, but everytime you're at a park there are perks. I love getting a free pic each day with every visit!

I literally just applied for the disney visa card for that exact reason. we plan to you use it for gas, groceries, etc. and pay it off in full every month. We try to go to disney ever other year so to us this is our little savings account just for disney. and there are other benefits of the card like discounts and other things in the park. and who doesnt want a card with finding nemo on it in their wallet!

We have (2) Disney Visa cards. We put a lot of items on our cards. Most of our purchases are business related, so this really helps even more. We went in 2007 with about $2400 to spend. In 2010 we took $3200 for expenses and in 2013 we saved up $3500 for anything Disney related. Me, the wife and son are going again in 2017 and I am shooting for $8000 to spend on Disney everything. With (48) months to save since out last trip, we have racked up $4100 thru (22) months so far. I also have other reward cards for flights and hotels too, but Disney is the one I use mostly and just love seeing the "Disney Dollars" climb. If it were not for this card, I do not know if a Disney trip would have happened for us.

thats what i do.
i pay for everything i want to charge on my disney visa card.
another suggestion to make it add up faster is to upgrade to the premiere card.
it does have a $49 yearly fee but if you are charging everything to it you will easily make that 449 back in points and then some.
i have the premiere and i got it when it was a $200 statement credit so its like i get the first 4 years fee free basically.
