Disney Visa cancel or not

My wife just got a Disney Visa card and we are debating whether to cancel or not. I told her you can get Disney discounts and she had to ask what discounts and I can not find any. We have a Citi Reward card that we are doing very well with. With Gas and Food purchases we get 5 points per dollar and in 3 months we have already accumulated three 50 dollar gift cards to various places. With the Disney Visa you get 1 point per dollar and from what I figured out the Citi reward program is better. Any feedback would be appreciated.

You can find the Disney discounts on the Disney Visa web site under "View Disney Offers". These offers change throughout the year so you have to check them once in awhile. You will also receive offers with your statment. You can also get no interest financing when booking a Disney travel package.

I am not familiar with Citi Rewards. Yes, you are earning more rewards on your Citi card but are those gift cards good everywhere?

Not sure how much help I'll be - we actually use another CC for most everything for much the same reasons that you stated.

I have kept my disney visa active. I was able to buy tickets for the touring Lion King show here through a pre-sale opportunity through them - that alone was worth it to me.

Since there is no annual fee, I would hold on to it. There are often offers for free movie tickets, additional Disney discounts and other specials that are only available to Disney Visa card holders. You could also purchase a Disney package using the card and get 0% financing for 6 months (and Disney reward $).

The only reasons I could think of cancelling it would be to avaoid running up a balance on it or if you have too many crdit cards open. It is a very good idea to a have a few (3 - 4) credit cards with little to no balances on them (on a monthly basis) rather than 1 just one card. Lenders like to see several trade lines of credit various forms of credit. It demonstrates your ability ot handle credit.

They also seem to offer incentives (such as double points) to those who don't use their cards. It's always annoyed me that a heavy user like myself gets no offers at all. I'd hang onto it unless there's some good reason to cancel it.

Yep I'd say the only reason to cancel would be for credit score purposes. If you don't care right now I'd just keep it. One thing to watch for is how much available credit you have... too much is a bad thing. So in that case you may want to cancel it (or other cards) or reduce the credit limit. I think one reason for that is to protect themselves in case you go crazy spending money. I had a co-worker for a few years who was in his mid 50's he was not married and had no kids and no brothers or sisters. At last check (before he was fired) he had around $200,000 worth of available credit on credit cards with one thought in mind... If he ever finds out he's dying he's going to use up every bit of it, he was going to have the time of his life at the expense of the credit card companies. Not to nobel, but it was his goal. Anyway the point is too much available credit can be frowned upon by lenders.

I get a free copy of my credit report about once a year (or two) and cancel things and reduce limits on other (as well as check it for accuracy)

I did the offer for presale tickets to Lion King also and got great seats (I hope, show isn't til April). I've also gotten free movie tickets to Home On the Range. Offers for discounts at disneydirect ($5 off princess watch/free shipping). Wouldn't hurt to keep it open to see what discounts and offers you get, you don't have to use the card to keep the account.

Oh yea, I forgot about that. We have signed up for and received 4 free tickets to: Heffalump, National Treasure, The Incredibles, Princess Diaries 2 and 1 or 2 more that I can't think of right now with the card. I know we saw Nemo and Lilo and Stitch for free too but they may have been with the old Disney Club.
