Disney Visa and Annual Pass Question

I want to make sure I can do this. I want to get our Disney Visa rewards put onto a gift card which I understand they will mail to us. When we get that I would like to go ahead and purchase our annual passes and pay for it with the card before our trip in September. If I do this, the annual pass won’t be activated until we use it the first time in September, correct? My reasoning for this is to try and purchase the passes before any price increases may happen this year. Will this work?

I didn't pay with my Visa Rewards, but I did just pre-order my AP and received an AP 'voucher' that I must take to Guest Services (along with my DVC card) to get my AP - the AP will become active on the day you turn in the voucher.
Seems to me you've got it right.

Yes that works. I do it that way all the time. Just took over 500+ reward points and requested the rewards card. Once I received it in the mail I went online and used the card to purchase two APs. I did the same thing last week but this time I didn't have to request a new card just dumped the reward points to the existing card. I purchaed the APs the same day I transfered the points.

Works like a charm

Thanks, I'll let DH know. He's afraid that if we order the AP's in June that's when they would be activated and not the first time we use them.
