Disney Visa and AAA and room only reservations-- OH MY!!!

I have a bit of a quandry here, and I am hoping you all can help me sort it out.

I have a GV room on hold at the Poly for next January (deposit is due by March 5). I have AAA, and I also just got a Disney Visa. I would prefer a package, since we like the DDP, but if I can get a 40% off code for the room, it would make more sense to take that deal and pay for dining OOP. I talked to CRO yesterday, and was told that I would NOT be able to move this room-only reservation over to AAA for a discounted package later. I really want to stay at the Poly next trip.

Now, here is the quandry: do I (1) go ahead and book the room only reservation now, in the hopes that I will get a nice (like 40%) code with the Disney Visa, understanding that if I don't, I can simply apply my AAA discount (15%) to the room later (but sacrificing the chance of getting any kind of discounted package, and subsequently having to pay for dining OOP), or (2) cancel the room-only reservation and just wait for the AAA packages to come out and hope that I can still get a GV room at the Poly for my dates?

Historically, have there been offers for discounts thru Disney Visa for January dates? When do they typically come out? How much are the offered discounts? Are they available at the Poly?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I wouldn't necessarily assume you'd be able to apply your AAA room only discount whenever you wanted. Maybe the rate would be available, maybe it would have already been sold out.

Wait... there are a limited number of rooms available for the AAA discount? So when I book the reservation, I will have to ask CRO to apply the AAA discount immediately? Will they be able to do that this far out, or will I have to wait anyway?

I'm getting very confused about how to time all of this properly!

I just re-read your post. You're booking in 2009-just realized, right? I don't know how they handle AAA discounts that far out. I'd ask.

Yes, there are limits on rooms for AAA discount. I booked last Oct for this Oct, and when I called there were no more AAA room only for the room we wanted at WL.
