My husband claims that, back in 1997 (maybe 98?), when he visited WDW with his friend's family, he ate a dessert at Coral Reef called "Just Chocolate". I don't believe him. (--I've searched everywhere and can't come up with any evidence to support his claim.)

Did this dessert ever really exist? If so, where could I get something similar?

Thanks for any help!
Rachel

Coral Reef is known for their Chocolate Wave dessert - maybe that's what he was thinking of?

That's exactly what I told him!-- but nooooo, he keeps swearing that it's called Just Chocolate. (Personally, I think he's "Just Nuts" but that's a whole 'nuther story...).

I'm driving myself crazeh trying to figure out what on Earth he's talking about. He says it was during the "time the castle was a giant birthday cake"-- maybe it was some kind of one-time thing for the anniversary celebration?

Who knows... Maybe my man has officially crossed the Crazy Line.

Well doing a simple google search....

WDW (30 Jan - 4 Feb, 1997)

Lunch at Coral Reef was quite good - our server Wendy was very attentive and accomodating. We started with the conch fritters, and then I had the broiled scrod, Lee had the blackened tuna, Barb had a shellfish dish...and Walt had smoked turkey. He likes seafood, but said the turkey sounded the best to him - and said it was very good. Dessert was the highlight - we share two orders of something called "Just Chocolate". It came in two parts - a slice of chocolate mousse "cake", and then a cup with a soft whipped chocolate mousse on top and a thick chocolate truffle/fudge layer on the bottom. Awesome. (Did I mention that Barb and I are chocoholics?)

The food was so much better back in the day wasn't it. ;)
BTW: Why to the wives always doubt us?

1) Your hubby wins the bet.
2) There was a Just Chocolate.
. . . it came in two parts
. . . slice of chocolate mousse
. . . soft chocolate mousse with chocolate truffle on the bottom

That sounds yummy - should we start a grassroots campaign for its return?

Ah - the Internet is an amazing thing! I even ate at Coral Reef at the same time (my honeymoon was during the infamous pink castle period) - but I don't remember that. I probably had it - considering what a chocoholic I am -- I was in a honeymoon blur I guess!

Booooooo!!!:rotfl:

Haha. JK. I guess his stories of how amazingly flipping delicious it was, are also accurate-- he's always said it was reeealllly good (he's a total chocoholic-- Needs a 12 step program). Shame it's gone.. I'd love to try it!

Thanks for helping me find it (and reassuring me that he's not hallucinating! :thumbsup2).

Haha-- Loved that!-- I'm sure Josh will thank you for that. (I'll be sure to NOT tell him so he can't rub it in;))
