Disney vets looking to temporarily jump ship!

We have been on four Disney cruises with other families and have always gone in January (except Wonder 02). We have always had a great time, but we almost missed GC in 04 and did miss both GC and CC in 05 because of winds/surf. We also feel like we need to try a new ship, shows, itinerary, etc. Therefore, while we will likely sail Disney again, we are looking for a different cruise line for next year. We still want to go in January or February (we're from CT and need to escape the cold), so we may even consider the southern carribean, which should be warmer. Of course, we would also do the western or eastern on a different ship if the itinerary looked enticing.

For those of you who have sailed Disney and other cruise lines, what are your thoughts and opinions as to which cruise lines and ships come closest to the Magic in terms of family entertainment, dinner and shows, kids clubs (for 5 - 8 year olds), friendliness of staff, etc.

I realize that a lot of this is subjective, but any feedback you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

We really enjoyed the Royal carribean Line.

Although we did not have our kids with us ( :smooth: ), there were lots of folks who did. My brother took his kids on RCCL and they loved it.

Check them out.

The Voyager Fleet from Royal Caribbean would be my pick. The ice skating rink was a big hit with kids.

Royal Caribbean. Slightly smaller staterooms. Shows are cheesy compared to Disney. Food is much better. Service equal or better. Kid's clubs- our son loved them on both ships! :sunny:

Another suggestion for Royal Caribbean. :sunny: Or even you might look into the newest Carnival ships. The cabins are large, and the kids programs are supposed to be really good.

The Mariner on RCCL. Great ship and had good time. Teens like it better than DCL (we did 3 DCL cruises prior). We thought the shows/entertainment on RCCL were much better than Disney. We are not disney fanatics so maybe that is why. Would definitely do RCCL again....also saved us about 2000.00 for family of 5 compared to dCL!
