Disney Very Merry Time Cruise more special?

My family is planning a last minute trip for end of November/December. We have the option of going to Jamaica, Mexico or somewhere else all-inclusive or take another Disney cruise. There are some great rates on some of the sailings. We have been on the Fantasy last year, and always thought we would go back. Just not quite yet...So.. the cruises we are looking at are the holiday (Christmas) ones.
Are they really more special than being on DCL at any other time? I am so torn if we should do another cruise already or just go somewhere else. Some of the sailings are from Miami too, which we haven't cruised out of yet and Western Caribbean which we haven't done before. Looking forward to hearing from people that have gone on the Very Merry cruises with Disney. Should we do it, or is it mostly like cruising with Disney any other time minus some holiday music and decorations...

We went last December - we enjoyed it but didn't find it all that more special. I think just the "magic" of Christmas itself - decorations, character holiday costumes, gingerbread house building - added to the magic. I wouldn't choose the cruise JUST for the Christmas experience

I agree completely. Cool, but we only picked it because it fit our schedule.

I agree with the above posters. The Christmas parties were very cute and the ship was obviously decked out, but I actually found all of the Christmas music annoying :) Probably because we were on a Nov. 8 cruise and I have a firm no Christmas music until December rule. It's fun, but not a reason to cruise if you would rather go somewhere else.

I actually really enjoy the "regular" music they play on the ships.... it's not all Christmas music all the time is it? ;)

I think that during port days they still play the loop for those ports, but out on sea it was Christmas music all the time. I missed the Disney music a bit by the end of the week.

Oh no! This is our first cruise on Nov 13 and I was hoping it wouldn't be complete Christmas overload all the time!
